Redwings flashback: 2002

At home on the couch in San Francisco. Had left the office around 3:00 to start getting fired up. My roommate came home from work 6 minutes in the game and couldn't believe it was really 2-0 already.

Later that night, I had buddies over who wanted to flip to a Celtics b-ball playoff game after it was 7-0. Nobody at my place was from Boston, so I refused and got a little bit of sh!t for it, but what a day that was...

I've been dealing with that all playoffs. My roomates are from LA (Kings, not Mighty Ducks fans, but still), and I have to fight for TV time. At least the Lakers got eliminated.

As I speak, the Pistons just were on national TV. and the Tigers and Wings are on next.

At a party watching my first ever hockey game and you could tell when the wings would score because everyone in the house would erupt screaming whenever detroit scored. Iv'e been a diehard wings fan ever since.

I had a high school game that night in Lapeer against Lapeer East, there were TVs out in the lobby between the rinks, and after every goal, the score was given to the scorekeeper who relayed the score to the fans and players during each stoppage. It was quite a sight, all of the players on both benches celebrating together, players hugging their opposition at faceoffs as the score was given.

Oh, we ended up winning our game 11-0, a pretty good hockey night for me :)

Driving home from work - left early but I'm not EST - got stopped by a train and heard 3 goals on the radio while I was waiting - on the Av's radio network since i'm in Denver - priceless, lol. By the time I got home it was 4-0, thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the game, the Denver paper the next morning, and the bets I had with the Avs fans at work. :D

Sorry for bumping this post back to the top, but I've been getting such a kick out of reading these!!!

To add a little detail: not only was I watching the game at Snookers, but I was there to play pool with a cute girl that I knew...she was a little unhappy that I was paying more attention to the game than to her!

I was at home taking care of my newborn son. What a great year that was! A co-worker of mine was at the game. I kept thinking that I would've loved to trade my going to game 1 of that series for the game 7 blow-out.

Side note: The best part about going to game 1 was that i was offered the tickets the morning of the game and i had to drive all the way to Grand Rapids to get them. Then drive all the way back to Saginaw to pick up the wife and sister. Then drive all the way to Detroit for the game that night. Geez, that was a lot of driving. I'm glad gas wasn't $3.50 a gallon back then.

I was home for a quick visit from college to car shop. I was 20 at the time and bought my very first car that day. The b*stard at the dealership had to schedule the delivey for about an hour before the game so I missed the first period. I was uber-pissed. Anyway, I told my little brother to call me on my cell if/when a goal was scored. It was hilarious that he called me 4 different times (the 4 goals of the first period) while I was signing papers! The salesman looked really confused.

I got home and watched the rest of the onslaught.

Hey guys...first post!

Saw this and had to reply.....because I remember it so well. I was in a bar called Bruno's in a middle-of-nowhere town called Cuba in New Mexico. I was a teaching assistant for a North Carolina Geology Field camp and it was one of our camping locations. The bar was the only place in town that had cable and access to the game, but unfortunately there was also a Mike Tyson vs. Somebody fight on pay per view and they were going to show that instead. Depressed, I stopped to get some beer at a small store in town and found out that the clerk had a small room in the back where a mariachi band played most nights... He set up a tv w/cable, and I ended up watching the game with a Carolina Hurricanes fan listening to a mariachi band!

No way!!! ME TOO!!!.

How crazy is that?

Word,

LDi03

I actually gave my girlfriend at the time (now my wife) my tickets to that concert, just so I could watch the game on TV. I was living in Lansing at the time, and went to a hole in the wall bar, hoping to avoid the college crowd. I went with everybody from the station that I was working at then, had a great time, and chased an Avs fan out of the bar.

My cousin's graduation for the first period. My dad, brother, and I raced back to the house and turned it on during the intermission. I remember all of us lookng at each other as they showed the replays of the goals and we were all saying "that's not from just tonight, right?" YEP, it was!! Amazing. Every last second. I never laughed so hard as when Roy got pulled and he damn near started crying! Wow, it felt good to relive that....

I was just out of 8th grade with childhood memories still fresh in my head.

All of my family was gathered at my grandma's, My now married Aunt's boyfreind was over and made his special chicken wings. We all watched the game and man was it awesome. My grandma got drunk and was wearing her dog's Red Wings Collar.

I was in downtown Denver at the Tin Lizzy surrounded shoulder to shoulder with a bar full of Wings fans. The Lizzy was located about 1/2 mile from the Pepsi Center and directly across the street from the Lizzy was a bar where Avs fans regularly hung out. Each bar was open on the street side and there was regular heckling going on across the street. It was a great day to be in Denver when the Wings killed their precious Avs.
