Where do you guys think we'd be, had we not had Markov this year?? I doubt we'd be able to beat the Sharks. Hell, I don't see us beating the Flames without him. Markov is very underrated on this team. Rememebr he makes 2+ Mill. a year. I think he is earning it here in the playoffs! Without #23, I think Markov deserves some recognition!! Go Wings!! Go Wings!! It strikes me as odd to see this thread after tonight's game because tonight held on of Markov's mistakes. Before the Ducks first goal, there was 9 seconds to go in the PP when Danny failed to clear the puck. The puck was a lazily sliding into the Wings zone and Markov was the first there, with time, and turned to shoot it down, but left it along the ice instead of over the heads... Getzlaf cut if off, for one last rush... goal. Dom should have been ready there, but Danny should have killed the penalty himself before that. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

What he brings to the blueline and defense is something the Wings definitly lacked last playoffs (Sorry Kronwall fans, but other then the occasional big hit, he is far from gritty). I hope the Wings bring Markov back next season. I hope he takes a cheaper salary, to have the needed cap room of course, but either way I'd like to see him stay. As soon as I saw him just lazily try to pass the puck out of the zone, I knew even before the camera changed that the pass was picked off at the blue line and that if they scored I was going to cuss out Markov to myself. I can't even count how many great defensive plays he's made that could of easily cost us a goal had he not been there. The guy is relentless out there, and his physicality is great.
