Nice Looking Trend

I know it means nothing at all., but I guess we all could use a nice perspective: in all our three Cup runs, we split the first two games of the WCF.

1997

1. Detroit 1, @ Colorado 2

2. Detroit 4, @ Colorado 2

1998

1. Detroit 2, @ Dallas 0

2. Detroit 1, @ Dallas 3

2002

1. Colorado 3, @ Detroit 5

2. Colorado 4, @ Detroit 3

No reason why we couldn't do it again this year. Sorry if this has already been brought up.

Like you said, it doesn't mean anything, but that made me feel a little better seeing that. Thanks

Wings should at least split in Anaheim, then we are in a good shape. Lets keep this way - vs Calgary 4-2, vs San Jose 4-2, vs Anaheim 4-2...

I must say that I am not worried about splitting at the Arrowhead Pond, or the Honda center or whatever the hell they are calling it now for the smple reason that I beleive hands down Canadian fans are louder, and louder more often than anything the Ducks fans can muster, and we did beat the Flames at the Saddledome. Also, how often is it really that you see teams going undefeated at home in the playoffs in any series?

97, and 98 is pretty much useless because we started on the road. you can look back to 02' tho by splitting the first two at home and winning in 7. let's be realistic here tho, that ducks team is good. if we dont split in anaheim, were f***ed.

Nice to know but if it wasnt for a bad judgement call by the ref the Wings would be up 2-0 going to west coast in saying that it is a 7 game series and if the Wings play the way they can no worries

Also the split with SJ this yr. After that first 2-0 shut out, struggling in game 2 and game 3... then steam rolling off to victory.

Remember how we all felt when we played the Sharks? I do. Ducks don't have more gas than the Sharks. Wait and see.

If we can beat the Sharks at the Shark tank, we can beat the ducks at the slushy pond.

i'm seriously getting sick of hearing this. there was fifteen minutes left in the game. how do we not know anaheim wouldn't have tied it up? everybodys actin like they got saved with a minute to go in the game or something. anaheim outplayed us in the third, if they were down a goal they would have came even harder.

Amazing what you can do with a little perspective

 theres no doubt in my mind the Ducks would have probably tied it with their constant attack. Now if it was a 3-2 game and the Wings had a goal called back lets say, then I'd be upset. But its not a big deal, we're not down going into Anaheim, its a tied series. True now they've got home ice advantage but I'm very very confident that we can take one from them, just as I was with San Jose.

Enough bitching about the 3rd goal in for Anaheim. The puck on a goalie's chest doesn't constitute a frozen puck, the referee wasn't intending to blow the whistle (yet), it was a legit goal. They deserved to win game 2. Get over it, all of us.

Anyways, also a nice looking trend is that in 1998 we were also down 2-1 to Phoenix and came back to win that series 4-2. ;) :beerbuddy:

Geez I hate to nitpick, but...........10.

I like your attitude though!

aloha

P.S. If we lost that one 8-1? I'd panic a little easier - close game no?

I'm obviously a greenhorn in hockey when I didn't realize you guys played the Avs in the 2002 WCF. I bet there were a ton of you that loved that. Sorry for the off topic, but I love hockey rivalries. :offtopic:

Probably my favorite series in my whole 20 years of living. Games 6 and 7 were just amazing.
