Kudos to the Ottawa Senators

Ottawa is playing good, but Buffalo is also playing very bad. Not to mention that Pittsburgh and New Jersey both threw in the towel after Game 2 in each respective series. We'll see how Ottawa matches against a team playing at the top of their game.

LOL watch out Anaheim or Detroit?

Whoever comes out of the West is going to destroy the Sens. That's my opinion anyways..

"Destroy" is a strong term. However, whether it be Anaheim or Detroit, will take down Ottawa in 6 games. Theres my prediction. :P

i think it will be a good series if the wings make it to the finals.

As far as my point about the western conference, It is a much more competitive conference once you get away from the riff raff like st. louis, chicago etc... that make for easy wins. The top 8 to 10 teams in the west are all very good teams and there is no team that can just run away with it all. The east on the other hand usually has a team or two that are good enough to run away with it all. The bottom of the list for playoff contention was real tight as far as points and it did get competitive, but most of those teams didn't make the playoffs, nor did they deserve to,

I only found out this morning the result from the Sens V Buffalo game. To say I was shocked is an understatement. Sens are doing really well , but before the series started I really thought that the Sabres where going to the SCF's.

props to the Senators.

Or the Senators have been really good in the playoffs.

So here's what you are posting:

Because a Western Conference team has to go through the obstacle course from hell to reach the SC Finals...that makes the Western Conference Representative "better" than the Eastern Conference team.

Dude, I hate to break this s*** to ya' but the results are what matters. The results tell me that an Eastern Conference team has hoisted The Cup in victory during the last three finals. It's not the road that matters...it's the destination. If the Western Conference is more talented then a western club should win the Cup every year despite the tough playoff match ups and travel lengths.

Are you serious?? Even the biggest of morons know that the only reason that the East has been so dominant lately is because the few decent Eastern teams can coast through the playoffs til the Stanley Cup finals.

Carolina barely beat Buffalo for christ sake, and Buffalo was missing literally HALF their defense and they BARELY beat Edmonton. Had Edmonton not had to put up with teams like Detroit, San Jose, and Anaheim, they wouldve come into the finals a lot more fresh than they were.

As for the Senators this year, exactly what adversity have they faced? Their biggest obstacle so far has been Marty Brodeur who was playing more like Manny Legace. Theyve faced easy teams and have suffered few setbacks and even fewer injuries.

While Ottawa has a good stranglehold on the series right now, a bounce here/there Buffalo's way, and they could easily be leading the series 2-1. Nothing is over until one team wins that important 4th game. And Buffalo is not going to roll over and die easily. If they are able to sneak out with a win in Ottawa in game 4 and win game 5 at home, the series will get very interersting, very fast. It's a realistic possibility that it could happen.

It's a shame they couldn't build off their huge start in game 2. Kinda like the Wings strong start against them way early this season and we lost to them in a shootout.

And I'm not going to say the Wings or the Ducks (or the Senators) are in trouble in the SCF until one of those teams is down 2 games or facing elimination. Everybody thought Philly would just maul the Wings in 1997 in the Finals before the series was even played, and look what happened...

You just never know how games are going to shape out.

I thought we all agreed that the East was by far the weaker conference.

That has been the standing agreement for the past 15 years, however, premature discussion or not, this is a fantastic team and is my favorite if the Wings exit in the WCF's. They are totally peaking and remind me of the 97 Wings. Thats SCARY!!!

I don't think that their journey to the finals is a tough road, however, they'll have all the energy and health. This playoff rounds has affected the Wings more than I can remember.

The one thing that scares me is that as good as Redden is, I'm not sure I would even rate him as one of their best 3 defensemen, maybe best 3, but I think there are at least 2 that are playing better than him right now.

They finally made it! Finally. After many years of early playoff exits, the Senators have reached the Stanley Cup Finals. I know Ottawa fans are passionate about their team and they must be pumped right now. I think many Leafs and Habs fans are secretly pulling for the Sens just out of national pride.

Whatever team that comes out of the Western Conference Finals...that team will have their hands full. Ducks or Wings fans should not take the Senators lightly. Holy crap, this team has tremendous depth and talent. Definitely more than Anaheim that's for sure.

I hope we see a thread called "Tell Me Why I Shouldn't Be Concerned about Ottawa". But I have to tell you that the concerns are near infinite...

Alfredsson

Spezza

Heatley

Redden

Fisher

Neil

Emery

Only TWO playoff losses to this point. They basically demolished the President's Trophy winners in the conference finals. They pummeled a perennial powerhouse called the New Jersey Devils. They silenced the Great Sid the Kid and the upstart Penguins.

5-on-5 or special teams: I don't see how the Wings can match up with the Senators. I honestly don't. Anaheim would be better competition but I think Ottawa could dispatch the Ducks in 5 or 6 games easy.

Jinx.....

Jumping the gun a little here huh?

Did i just miss an entire game. The last i checked the Senators hadnt won jack $ hit. It's 3-0 in the ECF... but this isnt over until one team loses 4 games.

The one thing that scares me is that as good as Redden is, I'm not sure I would even rate him as one of their best 3 defensemen, maybe best 3, but I think there are at least 2 that are playing better than him right now.

ya...Chris Philips and Anton Volchenkov
