spydrwebb 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 jiggy has carried the ducks, nothing more needs to be said. he's done what he's had to for the most part and deserves the credit he receives. any chance you can have a couple of your buddies distract him a few times in game 6? Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 To validate the existance of this topic: I thought Nick put in a standard Lidstrom-like effort. Which is to say, better than any other play in the league night in and night out. But not even Nick knows which way the puck bounces.

RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 Giguere by a landslide. I think alot of our shot selections have sucked the past few games. But nonetheless the guy got shelled and yanked in game 3 and has been outstanding ever since. He lets in one of those many shots in either game and it's over.... Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 I just wanna thank mr lidstrom and mr lilja...awesome performance.. Honestly, are the ******* comments like this really necessary? On topic, Giguere is by far the best player on the Ducks. Put an average goaltender in net for the Ducks, and this series would definitly be in the Wings favor. YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 Giguere and Getzlaf. Niedermayer and Pronger are showing why theyre a step below Lidstrom and Selanne is a joke if he doesnt get goals put on his stick for him.
Aeothe Kaear 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 Giguere has been good but not great, by my estimation. The Wings just aren't making him move enough and exposing his glaring lack of lateral mobility. Getzlaf is a terror though, and his line often has the Wings pinned in their zone and helpless to strip him of the puck. Oddly, the Wings have struggled to contain Penner on occasions (because of his size) but he and the Ducks have done absolutely nothing at all to take advantage of that fact. Guest Agalloch Report post Posted May 21, 2007 Way too much Giguere praise here. Make him wear normal sized equipment, and he turns into Alex Auld. Quite frankly, the Ducks can't match up with the Wings, and the only reason this series is in the Ducks favor is because of a ridiculous sequence of events. Officials blew the game in game two, and some of the weirdest bounces I've ever seen all went toward the Sucks favor in this game. Luck does come to an end, and it'll end next game. Wings in seven. Duckette 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 If you want Babcock to take responsibility, then maybe you guys should too. You can't blame everything on the refs, and Jiggy's pads aren't illegal. But if telling yourself those lies makes you feel better, then far be it for me to stop you.

Oddly, the Wings have struggled to contain Penner on occasions (because of his size) but he and the Ducks have done absolutely nothing at all to take advantage of that fact. Well put. Potshots from no angle at the bottom of the circle aren't really good chances, nor are they a good indicator of Giguere's skill level. He is a good goalie, without question, but has a tendancy to give up Cujo-sized rebounds, the Wings need to get bodies to the front of the net as they did in game 3. Ryan Getzlaf scares me, he is big, fleet of foot, and incredibly tough to knock off the puck. I thought they did well to contain him in game 5, as that line was dominant in game 4. Jiggy's been solid, not spectacular. I can't recall him making any saves that made me stand up and spill my beer, but then I don't think he's really had to either. Credit for that I guess has to go to the Duck D ... they're doing the little things and keeping the puck on the perimeter for the most part. I think Beachemin has played pretty well, he always seems to be in the way in front of your net, and God knows I'm tired of hearing the announcers say Bo - sha - man. (maybe he should wear a cape) Edited May 21, 2007 by lets go pavel
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 (edited) I just wanna thank mr lidstrom and mr lilja...awesome performance.. Oh no. Don't thank them. Thank the damn luck and bounces that have gone your teams way when clearly the Wings have been the better team for the majority of this series. Giguere has been the only Duck along with Getzlaf that deserves any credit for that team. Giggy hasn't even been great, but apparently good enough as all the bounces are going the Ducks ways. Getzlaf is awesome..I'll give him that. As for thanking Lidstrom and Lilja, what the hell is that about? And here I thought you were one of the better Anaheim fans. Poor Lidstrom for going down and trying to block a shot. He was doing what anyone would of done.. And Lilja? Don't even. That guy has been one of the better Wings players in the entire playoffs. He is the ONLY one that scored our goal. If not for him, the game would be 0-0. Because of him they were 40 seconds away from winning, but as it turns out luck screwed us over. That's pretty much it. I know Jiggy's pads aren't illegal, but honestly, he looks SO muffing LARGE in front of net-- the Incredible Bulk. I still don't think he's all that (unless a big ol' wall is all that), but he's making the needed stops in a WCF, by gosh. That has to mean there's something good going on there somewhere and I honestly don't believe it's ONLY the pads.

Duckette 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 The thing about Jiggy is that he does his job adequately without having to be flashy about it. That's what I like.
ZAMBONI 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 The thing about Jiggy is that he does his job adequately without having to be flashy about it. That's what I like. I tend to agree with the above poster. Giguere is a decent goalie. His defense really has played well in front of him for the most part and the bounces are certainly tipped in the ducks favor. I think thats the way 2002-3 went for the most part also, they played good defense in front of him and he made the stops, but he certainly does well in the playoffs and thats a testament to his mental toughness.
