ttbrunke 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 As I have been watching the wings I'm not sure that babs has cought on to the NEW NHL yet. He needs to understand that a 1 goal lead may not be enough anymore. When he had the Draper line out on the Power PLay late in the 3rd it stood out to me. Also Bert Cleary and Lang, that line needs to go. I see he switched Lang for Draper that's a better Idea. We need someone who can play in the defensive zone. Lang and Bert are too bad back there. I like the Babs had the team playing all year but now it just seems he wants to try to sit on a 1 goal lead all the time and it hasn't worked.

I don't think he was sitting on the lead yesterday, we put up 37 shots, we just couldn't get another on to go. It's not like our guys weren't attacking, but at the same time with a one goal lead you don't want to get too crazy on offense and give up a bad breakaway either. Putting the Draper line out at the end of the PP wasn't a bad move, our top lines had just been on the ice against their PK, it stands to reason that they'd be coming right back with their big guns, so Babs put out our shutdown line. I agree with your assessment of the Bert-Lang-Cleary line, man they were scary back there ... they couldn't get the puck out of our own zone to save their lives. Most of their shifts together resembled a penalty kill.

Um, you realize the Wings won a game in this series by 5 goals? Babcock can't control the opposing goalie ripping saves out of his rear and almost single-handedly winning the last two games for them.
