wingsfan101 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 I think that the wings are #1 in the nhl in outscoring the other team in the third peroid of play, yet we always seem to struggle in the overtime period. I am not sure of our overtime record in the regular and post season but if I would have to guess it seem to be below .500. Is it because of our teams age and we get tired quickly (cause I think we have one of the oldest teams in the NHL don't we). Any thoughts on the subject. regwinguofmfan 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 As a team we dont like to play full games. We like to play when we want to and slack when we want to. No rip on the team, but it really looks that way. We did the same thing in the warly 90s and fixed it by 1996. Then in 1996 we got beat by the Avs in a series alot like this where we didnt get many bounces and a goaltender ate us up. We show up for the first 5 or 6 minutes of overtime then try and coast to the locker room.
DaKineMaui 8 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 The Detroit Red Wings have NEVER given up more than one goal in ANY overtime period, regular season or otherwise. That ties them for 1st in NHL history. Not too shabby I'd say.

dicksmack 33 Report post Posted May 22, 2007 Because of the confidence in Giguere, they really attack. When it's next goal wins, they can go balls out and give up chances cuz he's got them. Mind you, if Datsyuk were to get a break away on him, it's game over. That was a MONSTER forecheck that flushed out Lilja like a scared goat, and that comes from confidence. Our game plan better be to win it in regulation. GO WINGS!
