Healthy Bert? OMG...that's very exciting!

I so hope.

He's an exciting player. People like him here...people will more like him if he stays and is awesome. I think it's a good move and he will fit in well here...

I'm happy, because if he gets signed well 1) I'll be happy and 2) at least ONE player I want to be re-signed will be....who knows about the others *sniff*

The best thing about keeping Bert is if he is healthy and once again becomes one of the most dominant power forwards in the game. When he is on, he is right up there with Iginla.

Also, if we keep Bert he will likely be taking less salary. Then we can use that and re-sign both Schneider and Markov. I think we need BOTH of those guys back. Markov is so underrated. He's tough as nails and elevates his game in the playoffs. You need character guys like that to win.

And of course we need Dom back as well. This team is going to kick some major ass next season and especially in the playoffs.

Agreed.

Lang by far scored the biggest goal for the Wings in the playoffs. Actually, he's probably the player in all of the playoffs that scored the most important, biggest goal for his team.

Come on Offsides. It was a joke. Just 'cause the playoffs are over doesn't mean we should lose our sense of humor. Heh, it's actually easier for me to make jokes now, because I'm not so on-edge over every little thing that happens with the Wings.

I disagree, I think that Schneider is more important on the PP then Markov is on the back end. I think, if we cant sign Markov too, we should sign Schneider and bring up one of our prospect D-men.

I have to agree with ARice on this one. If re-signing Schneider means no money for Markov, then I don't like that move.

Schneider is vital on the PP but let's not forget who actually runs that PP -- Nick Lidstrom. Markov doesn't get a lot of recognition for what he does on the ice but he plays a very good shut down role against top lines. Most importantly, he is a solid, solid partner for Nick. For the first time in many seasons, Nick had a partner he didn't need to babysit. Once Markov got his bearings, he fit in well.

With Chelios and Lebda manning the 3rd pair, the only spot for a kid is in the top-4, and we don't have any kids ready to step into that position. Lebda is a good 5/6 d-man but he is not ready for the top-4.

I say that since Bert wants to come back and Kenny wants him, they should just get a deal done right now. I'm sure they can come to terms. Plus Hasek is doing what he did in 02 and taking his sweet time deciding on his future (and the Wings' really) so while Kenny's waiting on that, get Bert taken care of!

Then Schnids should be next because of his ability to play the power play. He takes many stupid penalties but he also is a great point man and has a wicked shot.

Markov is a solid d-man too, but you never knew which Markov was going to show up on which night. Some nights he was amazing and then others a pee-wee could skate through him....might get his head taken off, but you get my point.

And the same goes for Lang. He only showed up when he wanted and granted he scored two huge goals and had a few assists but I don't know what to think. To be 100% honest, I would love to see him back - but at a very reduced price. No reason to have Langer back at what the Wings were giving him this year but if he took a drastic pay-cut (which he won't) then he should definitely come back.

And Calder...I'm with everyone who's at a loss with him because I am too. He showed so much heart in the games he played in the regular season and seriously after the first few games that he played, I was watching him every second he was on the ice, just because he was showing such heart. I want to see him back but obviously if Helene St. James says he isn't then obviously he isn't..

You won't be able to get rid of it, even with Lang gone. Besides that, it's not really a malicious thing anymore. It's just a joke that I and a few others still get a good laugh over.

I don't hate Lang. I know you've accused me of it before, but I don't. I just like the Lang jokes that are made, because their funny. At least I think their funny. Everyone has their own sense of humor though, so it's whatever works for you.
