I'm pretty sure he'll be an UFA this summer and was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on him becoming a Wing. He's decent offensively and can fight... I think he would be a great addition.

he is in a similar situation to Chris Simon, both are old, offensive contributions are on the downfall but can still contribute as a 4th liner, the difference being that Barnaby has had some recent concussion problems and might be set for retirement, while Simon is still in good enough form to take on just about any fighter in the league

I'd have jumped on it a few years ago, but he's not the same player anymore.

it's fair to say he's not my favorite, and never was. Sean Avery with even less couth, if that's possible, at least Avery is funny sometimes.

Anyway, Barnaby is likely done, due to repeated concussions - it won't surprise me to see him retire. I feel pretty certain that he won't be a Star next season, at any rate - they have their quota of concussed players who didn't contribute this season, with Eric Lindros.

I would take the Barnaby of 10 years ago, but not now. He has a history of concussions.

Besides that, he has said this season that he wants to start spending more time with his family, prompting the fact that he will probably retire.

The guy has had so many concussions that he's considering retirement.

As for fighting, he's one punch away from total blindness. He doesn't fight anymore.

Getting Barnaby years and years ago? Perhaps.

Now, no thanks.

Hopefully he can get pr remain completely healthy again to close out whatever career in professional hockey he might have left, but his playing days are close to being numbered I think.

I would have taken him about 5 to 10 yrs ago, but not now. He would end up like Norton, wouldn't be able to keep up with the play. I do like Barnaby alot though, as long as we don't have to play against him.

No. Other than that he's known to fight (his own team members, in practice at that) I really don't see the point in him. They've got plenty of guys to fill a 'checking line' role.
