puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted January 11, 2011 Question: why do they insist on calling the criminal who tried to assassinate Repr. Giffords, who killed a federal judge and four other people including a nine-year old child, and who maimed and injured more than a dozen other innocent people a "suspect"? I don't suspect him of anything -- it's pretty clear he is 100% responsible.
megaelixir 35 Report post Posted January 11, 2011 Because, even though it's obvious that he did it, this is America, and everyone has the right to a fair trial. For better or worse. 1 55fan reacted to this
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted January 11, 2011 ^^^ What she said, plus they're reporters, and they're bound by the laws of libel. If, by some remote chance, they report on a case and call the person the anything that insinuates that he did it, and the person is found innocent, the person can sue. Not at all likely in this case, but they're covering their butts by just having it as a blanket policy. It doesn't bother me. A guilty person is a guilty person whether they have been proven or not, and no matter what we call them. Even if the court somehow finds them not guilty (again, not likely at all in this case), if they did it, they will answer for it in the end. I'm not a vindictive person, but I do believe that it all comes out in the wash. I hope for mercy, because I know what I've done in my life, and wrong is wrong. I don't believe in little or big. It's just wrong is wrong. This guy will get what's coming to him, one way or the other, no matter what the papers say about him. 1 megaelixir reacted to this
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 I appreciate the few media sources who call him what he is: an assassin. I also hope he gets what is coming to him. No insanity plea. He knew what he was doing. Don't even get me started on Tom Delay. I once wanted to be a lawyer. It's a good thing I'm not one.
Selliria 76 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 Agreed, Puckloo. It bothers me to hear news sources refer to him as a suspect, but it bothers me more to see how this issue has turned into a right/left political debate. Innocent people were murdered and many more injured. The last thing the media should be doing is trying to divide people against each other.. especially on an issue that you would think would get the same horrified reaction out of just about anybody. The shooting has made me realize more and more how serious an untreated mental disorder is. I read some reports that the young man in question exhibited signs of schizophrenia at an early age, but his parent(s) never took him to get checked/treated. His own classmates and teachers were afraid he was going to bring a gun to school. How are you so uninvolved with your own child's life that you don't realize he's turning into a psychopath? SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 People have those baby monitors to listen to what the baby is saying in the other room if the baby is napping, I think this is a form of wiretapping.
Selliria 76 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 (edited) You know what I thought of earlier? Lidstrom has never NOT been in the playoffs his entire NHL career. (Aside from the lockout.) Edited January 12, 2011 by Selliria

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted January 13, 2011 That's a good question. On one hand, e-mail addresses should sound somewhat professional, but on the other hand you don't want too many to keep track of. I'd say as long as it isn't bangyerdaughter69@pothed.com you should be fine. That one is really much too long.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted January 13, 2011 You know what I thought of earlier? Lidstrom has never NOT been in the playoffs his entire NHL career. (Aside from the lockout.) It helps that he's been a Red Wing his entire career. Dom never missed them either, except for the lock out and in Ottawa when he was injured and couldn't play. The Buffalo Sabres, with Dom in goal, never missed the playoffs. After he left for Detroit, they missed the playoffs for three straight years. Wonder who carried that team? Input please I agree that's not too bad of an email. Of course if you're sending out a lot of resumes and only want the job search stuff to be in there you could set up an email that you use strictly for that. Then once you get that new job you can get rid of it.

wingsgirl001 983 Report post Posted January 13, 2011 I have like 4 gmail accounts. That one's not too bad. I'll probably use a separate email for my jobsearch stuff, though, just so my main email doesn't get too cluttered.

puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted January 14, 2011 (edited) I think you should change your name to AllThingsDom. Someone around here has to do it. Most of the other Dom supporters quit posting here, due to all the bashing. I am harder to get rid of than most. Someone stole my rain bells, like these from my front-yard flower bed today. How nice. WizardOfOz30 1,886 Report post Posted January 14, 2011 That's a shame Loo, those are cool. I will never understand how/why people steal things from yards, we should be able to landscape with nice things and expect them to be there in the morning...every morning. 55fan 5,133 Report post Posted January 14, 2011 That sucks about the chimes. My friend's wife is a florist. The other day she had someone come in asking for a certain kind of flower, but she couldn't remember the name. Finally she thought she remembered it and said, "Oh! I know! I want to get chlamydia!" He took so much s*** from everybody and never gave it back. The worst thing he ever did was Carey Price trolling and that was just hilarious.
