Pronger at it again: elbow to McAmmond's head

I tried going to a sports bar down here that's broadcasted a lot of the playoffs, they have Direct TV, but they couldn't find the game on any alterrnative NBC channels or any other stations. I checked listings though for game 4 Monday, they aren't going to shaft me again from what I checked out. If they do, I'm going nuts with a complaint letter/hate mail.

Blacked out in the Big Easy. It's in the second section.

I hate Pronger as much as the next person, but...I don't know if this was a suspendable hit...

:tomato:

Was it dirty? yes

Was it intentional? probably

But I don't think he clearly intended to injure him, I think when he hit is head on the ice that did more damage then the elbow I think at most maybe a elbowing call or a roughing call but I don't think he should get much more the a game, if that... as far as the Pronger cheap shots go this one was pretty humble (but thats not really saying much) and being that they only suspended him for one game for the hit on Holmstrom in the WCF I doubt he'll get suspended again in this playoffs. The only way I see it happening is if MacAmmond is seriously injured outside of that, I'll expect to see Pronger in game four.

Not only that but I don't know if the Sens have a chance if Pronger is out of the line up, he was an integral role in the Sens win tonight :P

Just a reminder: THIS IS NOT AN ANAHEIM FAN BOARD!! Take all this bulls*** and defending of Pronger over to one of your OWN teams boards. Quit trying to play cute on here. We don't give a s***.

I know most of you Ducks fans are really LA Kings fans but Pronger actually played for Edmonton and St. Louis previously and is know for his cheapshots. We clued you into his game [or lackthereof] when the Detroit series started. He's a repeat offender and we're talking mere weeks after he tried taking Holmstrom's head off with his elbows. He should be suspended the rest of this series and fined huge - I just don't see how those idiots at the NHL offices can mess it up again, this time. Here's hoping ... and if he doesn't sit the remainder of the series, here's hoping someone like Chris Neil lights his ass up when he sees him next, cause this fan is fed up!

I second that.

last time i checked, there is no penalty for a hit to the head. thanks.

Yes there is when you use your elbow to hit someone in the head there is a penalty usually called. Suspensions based on elbows to head have been handed out before, and given the history he won't get a pass again, probably only one game but I don't think he will get nothing...for those defending based on height...get a grip, Ottawa had Chara and he never got suspended for elbows to the head, in fact the only suspension he got was for fighting in the last two minutes of a game.

I predict that next season, hits like this will be an automatic suspension. You make an excellent point that Zdeno Chara is even taller than CheapShot is, and somehow seemed able to control his elbows and even remember after a game what he did! It's amazing!!!! Pronger should be suspended for his own good, really... someone who blacks out after a dirty hit on an opponent's players isn't safe out there. It's a rough game. <_<

Those who don't get that the hit on Dean was suspension worthy don't know what they're talking about (and/or are blind-homer Ducks fans). After Pronger took out Homer, he was dead to me for good. Now he's "deader" if that's a word.

Good luck to the Sens, and I hope they come out next game (and then two more after that) and annihilate the Yucks in the right way. Shame them off the ice with clean, well-played hockey. I know the Sens can do it!

Well ain't that special.

I am sorry SWF... son of a dammit.

Is it coincidental that Pronger now says he "can't remember" what he did to McAmmond? It's an epidemic of black outs!!

There IS a penalty for ELBOWING, however, and if it results in a head or face injury, then the penalty can be assessed accordingly. The REASON a Spanish Archer is penalized is because it's dangerous and can easily result in injury.

See Rule 53.

What are you complaining about? The Ducks are the ones getting away with all of the clutching and grabbing. THey just couldn't do it tonight.

I do admire your dedication. Pronger has been doing the same s*** year after year after year. You just haven't seen it until this year. Early in his career the biggest problem with him was that he couldn't control his temper and stay out of the box. 10-12 years ago, he ended up hurting his team with stupid penaties. Now because he is a "superstar", the refs swallow their whistles and let him hurt other players.

You're right about one thing. I have not seen Pronger before this season. Never liked him and I still don't. But, I am not complaining about the reffing. I was merely making a statement that the reffing was horrid both ways ;)

Now, for the user who says we Ducks fans are really Kings fans, you know nothing about SoCal. Whether it be hockey, football, baseball or basketball, Anaheim and LA are HUGE rivals. Both professional, collegiate and high school. Kings fans would rather pull their brains out through their nose, set them on fire and then shove them back up their rear than have the Ducks win the Cup or even be in the finals. The same goes for Ducks fans and wanting the Kings in the finals/winning the Cup.

I hate it when players hurt each other. To try to put things in perspective and take off my orange glasses, I just think 'What if that was my brother there, or one of my other teammates.' If anyone even came near my brother with an elbow up that high, they'd be tasting my blocker. I hate dirty hits. I've been a victim of several during my playing career and I detest them greatly.

The Ducks are NOT goons though. They're a good, clean team. Pronger is just an idiot sometimes....ok, most times.

Insult my team all you want. This is your board for Wings fans. I'm not going to attempt to stop you, but please, do not insult me, my fellow Southern Californians or the City of Anaheim.

ill agree with you on that, but add niedermayer and getzlaf to that list, as well as may or whatever. i couldnt even count the number of times scotty tried to hack and whack datsyuk cause he got beat by him. and getslaf looks like hes trying to murder everyone.....constantly. im so glad he got bitched out by...fischer i think it was? last night.

Umm, what? Punishments have been given for hits to the head before. I take it this is your first time watching hockey?

While I generally agreed with you that Pronger wouldn't be suspended, even though he deserved it, it's clear to me now that you're either a Ducks fan, or know nothing about hockey. Many higher officials in the NHL have talked about more severe punishments at numerous points this season. To say that there is no penalty is just plain stupidity.

because he got elbowed. but elbowing is a 2 minute penalty. the ref missed it. a blow to the head is not a penalty.

hatcher was suspended for 3 games after his elbow to the head of lombardi in game 6 of the 2004 playoff series between the wings and flames. pronger definitely deserves a suspension too IMO.

but i do not agree with people who are calling the ducks a bunch of goons. pronger aside, they are not that dirty and if it weren't for him then i would be rooting for the ducks. i really love the way they play - they are a big, tough and aggressive team who are great to watch.

How many games did then-wing Hatcher get in '04? 3 games I think?

Seems like a precedent. Add the repeat offense & seems like 6 games is more appropriate.

[edit after reading the above post] Hmm... note to self: Read the entire thread before posting.

...it's clear to me now that you're either a Ducks fan, or know nothing about hockey.

Redundant.

Once again, taking cheap shots at Ducks fans doesn't make you any better of a person.

Okay the rest of this post is null and void becuase you stated exactly why he should be suspended. Dirty: YES Intentional: YES.

Pronger should get hammered by the NHL . IMO his elbow was really high and the intent to cause injury was there. His Stanley Cup Final's should be over.

Look where Pronger's elbow is at in relation to his shoulder on that 4th pic, its down! If McAmmond is taller, its a clean hit! Law of physics ladies and gents! :)
