Yup there are probably alot of guys names on the Cup that are A-holes too. Lemieux being one of them. Actually that mght be a good topic in a few days (biggest a-hole on the Cup). But I think we know who would get the most votes right now. <_<

I really think Pronger should have gotten 2 games for being a repeat offender - the NHL is very lame in that regard - they justified it by saying it was the SFC. Anyhow, he doesn't deserve to be on the ice when the DUcks win. The rest of the DUcks deserve the Cup more than him imo since they had to summon up two wins w/o his lame ass.

Wings are a better team than the Sens - that's obviously clear. This puts us a the #2 team for the season imo - since the West is clearly better. Better than the DUcks? I know your arguments from the other threads - but they were unfortunately slightly better - oportunistic than us. That's OK - they'll get their Cup, dump Pronger, and they won't be as hungry next year - when the Wings take it all. :)

From what I understand (and I'm no expert, I just play one on ice), there is no provison in the NHL rules for infractions carryover from one game to another, from one series to another: in effect, repeat offenses are irrelevant unless occurring within the same game (for instance, three elbowing pens in the same game are an automatic game suspension, under the new rules (don't believe a same game three-peat elbow has happened yet?).

Repeat offenses mean nothing, legally, per judgment on players.

De facto is something else: without Pronger's recent history, he never would have received a second suspension.

Listen, as much as I loathe the man (perhaps no one here more, that knows him as well), the McAmmond hit suspension was probably unwarranted. WHY the Duck org is acknowleging this suspension as due and denying the Homer Hit is beyond me-- it's prolly due to the derision with which the previous Homer denial was received, but Burke et al cannot back outta that and still maintain face.

Sumbuddy get the politik the heck outta my game!

This is discussed alot on NHL talk shows and Detroit sports stations - especially this year because 1) the excessive travel with three far away series (2 west coast) and 2) the playoff games started at 10pm eastern - then went to 9pm. WXYT (Det sports station) had Bettman on about 3 weeks ago and asked him point blank why Detroit wasn't in the East. He skated around it, but basically they want 1-2 orginal 6 teams in the West. The Wings are a huge draw and all the west teams' owners campaign for them to stay. Everththing logically points to the Wings moving East - but it will never happen.

i definetly did not enjoy having to play the wings, we all wanted the sharks.....in my opinon wings are better than the sens...the west is better than the east, either the ducks or wings coulda steampiled there way into the SCF if they were an eastern team...

So there are 2 questions then. Who would you rather play? ANd who you dislike more?

Obviously, the Wings series in retrospect was the most competitive and exciting of the Ducks series (unless a miracle happens in Ottawa). I'm seeing some seriously bad blood here between Sens-Ducks - imo alot more than the Wings-Ducks, Pronger hit aside (Homer shook his hand in the end).

Actually I read the entire Toronto globe sports section today - and Campbell pretty much said since he has a previous offense in these playoffs, that factored in for the second one. Also, the GMs just happened to meet in Ottawa this week - and the big topic was head hits - many want stiffer penalties for violaters. if Pronger hadn't hit Homer, then I don't believe he gets ousted for the second hit. I just think the number of games should go up w each infraction - in fact, if you get three suspendable head hits'injuries in one playoffs - your ass should be sent golfing early...OJ would be a good partner...

Spezza =SOFT yuck, he'd rather give the puck away than take a hit. What a puss. He's been worse than invisible, he's been a defensive liability. Then Alfie sparks the Ducks with his dumb shot at Niedermayer. What an idiot.

That's what I've been saying, he's been absolutely horrid.

There cannot be a satisfying rivalry between Ducks/Sens-- they meet too few times. The Sens great rivalry belongs with the Sabres, as should be. It's a great rivalry, with blood and fire and hatred and history and all the good things a sports rivalry should encompass.

The obvious rivalry in The West is Ducks/Wings, and believe me, it will be promoted (that is, if promotion were a part of Bettman's strategy for the New NHL, which... durr, it izzint).

Hellyah, I cannot wait for the next Wings/Ducks game next-- I think we should bring DMac back for that one game, let 'im at 'em. Bloody Wednesday.

(did I just give away all my New NHL cred? ....GOOD!

Personally, I'm disgusted. Maybe I'm too much of a wings fan, but I think it's mostly I hate seeing a really good offensive team getting outscored by a team with one line of offensive upside. Anaheim's team just looked like 3 checking lines and then Selanne's line...

I think that sucks.

I predicted the Sens would win in 4 or 5, I guess now is the right time to order my crow, BBQ please.

How would you like your feathers done? or would you prefer a side order of...wings? (crow wings, of course) :D

Really good to hear.

Look, I don't want our sport softened up, but I loathe with all my heart head-hunting tactics that are winked at by the officials-- and that goes for BOTH the teams tepresenting our sport in this SCF.

Intent to injure should be a priority, and it's been absolutely overlooked: instead, the calls are for petty hooking, tripping, and holding pens.. fuggedabout the guy who just got charged or boarded...!

(unless it's one of Our Men doin' it, then Ally Ally In Free... innit? ;)

Call the dangerous s***e, let 'em play elsewise. I cannot TELL you how many ridiculous calls for hooking I saw during both con final series for "hooking" when one player barely brushed his stick against another guy, not impeding his progress... absolute eejiocy.

Well, Alfredsson always does something in the playoffs to screw over his team. He just waited a little longer than usual this year.

Whatever, I don't see it that way because he was not punished for his deed....he got away with that one. They just got their butts handed out to them.

Maybe he wanted to be thrown out of the game because he was frustrated, and he should have been, plus a suspension for next game, a la Pronger....

As it was, Alf went out as a loser at the end of the game.

I am so happy the sens finally scored , but man was Getzlaf pissed. During the interview he basically called emery a diver and criticized the refs. He needs to settle down before he takes more stupid penalties.

he he, Emery paid dearly for his flop....He also got a talk form the ref..."Don't be flopping now, boy!"

Ref should've given him a penalty for his terrible acting.

Atta boy Alfie , teach that Niedermayer that you arent no chicken s*** swede.

Anaheim trying to goon it up , too bad the sens can do that too

That was totally classless, the sweede is a coward goon. Worthy of a suspension....

The East has been the weaker conferecnce for years now. One thing about the Sens losing, is that it will be nice to have the Cup won by a Western Conference team (the Wings last did it in 2002).

Well, sens are done. Im surprised by the refs just letting them play, lots of stuff that should be called. But no team is really getting an advantage out of it, but the ducks are a better team when the game is played like that.

Congrats to the ducks.
