Alfie Goes Unhinged

Big deal. I've seen worse. If it had happened to a classy player or marketable player (Lidstrom, Crosby, etc) I would mind more. But it happened to a nobody. Yeah, he has a Norris, but so does Pronger and that doesn't say much for the award. Niedermayer is a nobody in the sports world, so the only people really affected are Anaheim and Sens fans, which doesn't mean much from the reporting I have seen in the series thus far. Is there such a thing as a Ducks fan anyway, or are they all transplanted Kings fans?

No injury, no big deal. For all we know Niedermayer whacked him in the back of the leg and called him a name and he got what he deserved.

I haven't bothered to look at write-ups on this "incident," since I fail to see the big hairy deal about a player shooting a puck in a hockey game... ;) But did Alfie make up excuses involving physics or some other act of nature to explain his hideous behavior??

Yeah alfie has been suffering from puckitis a rare form of disease which makes him fire slapshots at people at the end of second periods.

Seriously. I haven't seen any lame excuses from Alfie ... not that what Alfredsson did out of frustration compares in any way to the goon tactics of Pronger, which resulted in injuries to players on both the Wings and Sens. Defend him all you want, Pronger is a menace and his behavior is shameful.

Thank God for Nick Lidstrom and my Wings.

Neidermeyer + Pronger = 1/4th talent of what Lidstrom is on his worse day.

Oops did I just say Lidstrom's name within the same realm of those two dirt bags?

I don't understand the constant bashing of Nieds here. No, he isn't as classy as Nick, but who is? And no, Stevie doesn't count, he isn't playing anymore.

BTW, I hate Pronger as much as the next guy. But I wish the Wings had a guy that could dish out those killer hits like he can. (The clean hits, not the dirty ones).

No Alfredsson flatout denies he was shooting the puck at Niedermayer. Personally i think the media is blowing this crap out of proportion AGAIN. The players settled it and Scott hasn't said a word about it and Daniel said he wasn't shooting at him. Water under the bridge to me.

I believe Alfie. Of course, Scott didn't say anything, since nothing happened worth commenting on. I honestly couldn't care less at this point, Zam.

And As for the media, I damned most of them to a very special place in H*** a loooong time ago. <_<

What gets me thinking (now this doesn't happen often  ) is what does Scott Neidermayer do to pi$$ off the opposition to get them to react the way they do?

Tie Domi throwing the elbow a few years back in the playoffs, along with Alfie breaking character, & shooting the puck @ Neidermayer...What gives?

When he played on Jersey he was known to be a dirty sob, but his game and yeah i'm in agreement, was and is as sound as any d-man around [well AFTER Mr. Nick Lidstrom ;) ]. What I notice about him now that we see alot of Anaheim is that he cheapshots guys, uses his lumber way too much and I think that's what guys get fed up with.

If you take Lidstrom as an example, he is by far the best defenseman around today. And as good as he is, as often in each game that he gets the better of another player, you'd be hard pressed to find 1 player who will knock him. Niedermayer? Get in line.

While I certainly don't defend Alfredsson for what he did, I'm going to get really irritated if every single hard check or hit or questionable call/penalty eventually comes to the point where fans area always saying "suspend him".

This is hockey, not hop-scotch.

BLASPHEMER! HOW DARE YOU MENTION THAT NAME IN THE SAME SENTENCE!

But seriously... the day Scott Niedermayer gets inducted into the HHOF is the day I burn that place down.

Watch the replay Sparky, it was more like 3.9 left. And yes, if you have ever played you know that in the closing seconds of a period, the last thing you want to do is give the other team on opportunity to score. There was plenty of time for Alfie to ice the puck, and the ducks to touch up.

So I was off by two seconds, sue me. He still easily could have flipped the puck high and wasted enough time. He could have shot it at more of an angle so it would deflect off the boards and slowly go into the corner. He could have wristed it slowly in a direction where there wouldn't be enough time to do anything with he. He could have done any number of things with it. He decided to shoot it directly at another player, which is totally unsportsmanlike.

And those bonehead CBC announcers didn't even know what was going on. I'm starting to understand why so many of the Canadian people I know hate listening to HNIC.

But seriously... the day Scott Niedermayer gets inducted into the HHOF is the day I burn that place down.

Yeah, it's not like Nieds is one of the best D-men of his era. The man is a perennial Norris candidate, winning it once, now has his fourth Cup and a Conn Smythe, and is a perennial All-Star. Amond active players, Lidstrom is probably the only D-man I'd take over Niedermeyer, not taking age into account.

I didn't say he doesn't have everything he needs to get in, I just said I'd burn the place down if he does. I just meant I don't want to see it happen :P
