TerribleTed7 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2007 10 years ago today June 7, 1997 was one of the best days of my life. When Stevie finally hoisted the holy grail, it brought tears to the eyes of all Wings fans. Thanks for the memories that are still so vivid today!!!!! Bad Vlad Forever 1 Report post Posted June 7, 2007 (edited) I was making an all night trip to Akron, Oh and had waited to leave to watch them clinch it. The whole drive down Telegraph, fans were standing in the street with signs, yelling and screaming, it was incredible. I will be 100 years old, and will never forget that. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted June 7, 2007 (edited) I remember when McCarty scored that goal ahead goal. Amazing. Happy Anniversary indeed What a phenomenal day that was! BTW, McCarty didn't score the go-ahead goal, Lidstrom did in the last minute of the first period to make it 1-0. Mac's goal (which made it 2-0) was the Stanley Cup clinching goal since Philly scored in the final 20 seconds. redwingslady87 130 Report post Posted June 9, 2007 Happy Anniversary, though I vaguely remember the time (since I was 7) I remember watching bits of the game vs. the Flyers. I remember being in Art class and a couple of the girls were headed to Philly for a competition. So we made signs saying the wings were gonna kill the Flyers and put Al the Octopus on them, and the girls hung them up all around their hotel in Philly. Happy Anniversary and here is to another run next year.
