Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that anyone, anywhere around the world can edit, so you know you're getting the absolute best information.

That's why, just like in English papers, nobody gives an article credit unless it cites sources. If an article in Wiki doesn't cite, it most often gets a flag saying it has unreliable information.

In most cases, Wikipedia is a very reliable source. More reliable than a significant amount of others.

I hope Lidstrom wins it and think he should. But as for wiki I could go in there and change it to say Brett Lebda won the Norris if I wanted.

IMO this is going to be the closest vote ever. You look at what these guys meant to their respective teams, look at their great offensive numbers and how much ice time they ate up and all of it is basically a wash. Statistically they're all right there with Pronger probably beating Nieds had he played a full season. With that being said the only other number that differentiates these 3 is there +/-. My hope is that the people who vote for this stuff realize that its not best offensive defenseman but best overall defenseman and when Nieds and Prongs combine for a +33 and Lidstrom is a +40 all by himself, this ought to be a slam dunk Norris #5 for #5.

The playoffs won't factor into this and yes the Ducks won, but Lidstrom was unbelievable and his 18 points was like 4th in the entire playoffs and he didn't even get to the 4th round.

Hands down Lidstrom.

In some thread earlier in the year I pointed out that during a very un-Lidstrom streak where he was getting -3 type games his numbers slipped in a manner that took him from a sure norris winner to a toss up between him and Scott. It was at the end of the year, so that usually would be what they decide with. I thought Lids lost it at the end of the year, but overall over the whole year/career he is better then anyone else in the league today.

thanks for the honest asessment.

You are correct that Lidstrom has yet to win this year's Norris.

You are incorrect in saying Chelios is not the first recipient of the season-end Messier award.

Nope, I was correct, Cheli has wasn't the first winner of the MMLA, in fact, he has never won it.

He did with the Yearly Leadership award. Two different things.

Maybe you don't understand how the Messier award works.

There is a monthly award, and a yearly award. Shanahan, Niedermayer, Crosby, Lecavalier, and Luongo were monthly recipients this year. Chelios was the yearly recipient.
