Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 (edited) That Brandon Sutter who is mentioned is the son of Brent Sutter. I'd like to see the Wings draft him, since the Sutter's have such a history of being good players. Plus, he's 6'3 and a center. It makes perfect sense. redwingfan19 293 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 (edited) I'd like to see us pick up Hartnell, resign Bertuzzi and Schnider and go after Sutton or Sarich instead of Markov. oops wrong thread Edited June 18, 2007 by redwingfan19

NAVYWING 2 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 We have a bad habbit of drafting small talented guys. It's time to get some talented size. The big guys we've drafted in the past have been for the AHL except Fischer.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 We have a bad habbit of drafting small talented guys. It's time to get some talented size. The big guys we've drafted in the past have been for the AHL except Fischer. Hmm...Fischer was originally expected to go in the top 10 in his draft year, but fell for some reason. Generally, you can go with one or the other; talent or size; unless you have a very high pick. Talented size generally goes early in the draft. This is why the Wings have had such trouble drafting those kind of guys. The last two picks Detroit had before 19th overall? Martin Lapointe and Keith Primeau. Is that the kind of guy you want to draft? Because you'll have to see either the Wings trade a significant player or two to move up in the draft (this doesn't mean Lilja and Maltby), or they tank a season. RyanBarnes! 293 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 ^You can find skill and size late in the first round too, if you are only prepared to take a chance. For some reason, Detroit rarely seem willing to take that chance.

datsyukonethree 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 Holy crap, I'd love for us to draft Brandon Sutter. Something makes me think that he'll go a bit earlier than projected because of his last name, but I've certainly got my fingers crossed.
RyanBarnes! 293 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 Latendresse??? Sure. Havlat, Perry, Malone, Latendresse and Blunden comes to mind.

akustyk 84 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 a quick question to ppl who follow draft reports: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?fid=11063 is this year's Euro pool that weak, or is it just TSN that fails to see beyond NA (and Canadian in particular) players? I mean... there's maybe 2 Russians in Top 30, some Dane, Swede and a Czech. Jesus Christ, is it it? I honestly can't see that huge advantage of NA players. is this some racism or what ? Nope , Cherepanov is the best european in the draft. Beyond him there are maybe 5 or 6 good europeans in the first round. North Americans usually go higher anyways. I know, and am most certainly aware that this particular year GM's will be looking a bit more for Canadians. but truth being said... not many Euros with high ratings. there were usually more if I recall correctly.
