Doctor G 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2007 Nah, I liked the bullies... but then again I wasn't around then so I've only seen the occasional replay game, youtube clips, and stuff from hockey fight forums Now I am all for the rough play and fighting. But from what I have seen on youtube and other tapes they won by being thugs. As bad as it is today with fighting being down a little, it was totally to the other side in the 70's. I like hockey to be wide open, end-to-end action and a couple good fights mixed in. Not a fight every 5 seconds. Correction: Lindsman nickname was the rat, not pest. Kira 451 Report post Posted June 22, 2007 For the record, the player you are thinking of is Bryan Allen, who was a defenseman on Vancouver at the time when he did that to Zetterberg. Bryan Adams was a minor league forward who played a 11 career games with Atlanta between 1999-2000 and 2000-2001. You are so right...my bad and my apologies for the mistake. See, I hate him so much I can't even mention his name!
Gordie Howe hat trick 110 Report post Posted June 22, 2007 (edited) If you guys watch some old clips on youtube and see what some of these guys did back in the 70's. You would have a new list. Especially anyone on the Broadstreet Bullies. Bobby Clarke, Dave Schultz and all the rest from cell-block C, made most of these little ******* look like church ladies. Also you have to add Kenny 'The Pest"Lindsman to the list, he was hated all over the league. The thing is I do like a good scrap here and there, but really im my eyes comparing the pests and enforcers of the 70's to the pests and lack of enforcers today is what really makes my list. If players were still allowed to fight in the NHL then I think my list would see some drastic changes. However, all we have now are cheap shot artists that can't back it up or won't because of the instigator rule. Like I said in another forum, if you are trying to entice people to watch hockey by eliminating fighting and those johnny-come-latlies don't like the fighting or understand it. Then fine I don't want you watching my NHL, I have no need for you. However if enforcers were still legit in this league im sure Probert would find a way onto my list not really because I hate him but because everyone else did, and he always won his fights...and it gets dull when you already know who will win Edited June 22, 2007 by Gordie Howe hat trick
