Moves this close to the draft

It could just be me, but I'm a bit overwhelmed with the amount of moves this close to the draft. I can't remember a season when draft day was this jam packed with moves. Both signing key UFA's and trades makes me wonder, why so much this year?

Thoughts?

GM's are trying to find any advantage at all in the salary cap era. Trying to think outside the box and be the first ones to get to the guys they want on their team. I think this kind of movement will become more common practice in the future.

I was thinking the same thing. I fear that the NHL will soon turn into the NFL in that the trade deadline will pass without much excitment. The offseason would then become where teams addressed needs.

Unfortunately so, NHL=NFL now. Too bad there is so much greed.

I can't blame anyone, the players, who grew up like you and I. The owners who invested millions.

Guess the only ones who are loosing are the fans, eh?

I would be ecstatic to see this in any other context, considering how fricken popular the nfl is.

That's what really bites me in the ass. Especially here in the Metro Detroit area, where there aren't any good jobs. To see the players whine about not getting enough to play a game. And the owners crying about each other spending too much.

Remember it's us little people who shell out the money to make this all possible. I know people who spent a half of a months salary to go watch one playoff game. That's nuts.

If this does become common practice I hope the Wings stay clear of it . We need to hope the Wings keep picking up as much quality prospect's as they can.

Jeez, I am with you bro..

Funny, it is us who are getting sh#@ on in the new NHL, atleast in the Big D.

Yea, I went to only 1 game this year, and spent a couple of C notes. I can't do that every weekend.

I watch most every game, and when the playoffs come, I cant watch them, as I need to get "digital cable".

DAMN, I think the NHL is like our govenor, just looking at my wallet, and how to get it.
