Just because Philadelphia did it doesn't mean it's going to be the norm this off-season. It may be rare prior to this year, but Philly may have set the train in motion. There are rumors of Calgary asking for the rights to Smyth, San Jose for the rights to Drury, and Edmonton for the rights to Gomez.
