Guest DetroitIan Report post Posted June 23, 2007 I knew we were going for defense. Smart move by the Wings. We definitely need future talent at the blue line. Especially within the next 3-4 years or so. Hopefully this kid pans out to be a quality NHL defenseman some day.
WingsZR2 1 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 The kid has a good set of wheels on him. Him and Lebda could make up the fastest blueline ever.
Systemfel 33 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 Youtube compilation video . ...and for all the haters, .Thanks. He seems to be an ultra offensive minded d-man.
Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 He's fast, but he takes awhile to take the shot, or else it's soft. He also cheats in when he's going for it. If he plays against an aggressive defensive team... odd-man rush in the making. The Wings can guide him to a strong career, though.
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 Thanks. He seems to be an ultra offensive minded d-man. You’d be forgiven for thinking he’s a forward.
Swayze 81 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 He scored 3 short-handed goals, sounds like he'd fit in here fine
glasgowcelticwing 18 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 (edited) I really felt Holland should have traded up and got that Russian winger before NY nabbed him up, The Wings will hardly ever get a chance to get a top 4 talent. I was hoping the Wings would do that too. The longer that Cherepanov was there I thaught the Wings would make a move to get him. I'm happy with what they got though , sound's like Brendan Smith's got the potential to be a real good D - man . RyanBarnes! 293 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 It's a bit disturbing to see Detroit pass up on Petrecki when they finally had the chance to add some muscle. Instead they opt to go with yet another offensive defenseman. Oh well...
SweWings 45 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 Not a bad pick. Let's see what happens...

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 Yup. my thoughts too. NOT NHL msterial unless the kid puts on some bulk. A lot of these kids are underweight when they're drafted. He's got time to put on some bulk.
redwingfan19 293 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 well it also looks like he has a mean streak and can play a physical game which is good.
high_stick69 7 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 This kid will get some great training at UW. Mike Eaves is an awesome hockey coach and UW has a history of putting out some great defensemen. Hell, Chelios played there! I see nothing but upside for this kid!
StoleYourYsebaert 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 And what's wrong with Nickelback They're only the most awful, Godless band of an entire generation. But I guess if you're into rehashed, unoriginal top 40 tripe, Nickelback is the band for you.

Rice 42 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 (edited) Yup. my thoughts too. NOT NHL msterial unless the kid puts on some bulk. Kane weighs 160. Is he not NHL material? Edited June 23, 2007 by ARice89

Guest DetroitIan Report post Posted June 23, 2007 I like their pick already, he has a great first name. lol, yeah. And he wears 14 especially for Shanny. So who knows, this kid could be the next number 14 in the winged wheel. That would be even a bigger tribute. Not only having number 14, but having it on Shanny's old jersey. This kid must be pinching himself about now.

Flip-check 6 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 Kane weighs 160. Is he not NHL material? I know, people have to keep in mind these kids are still babies. No kidding at all there, they're still fresh-faced with the baby fat all over on most of them. They'll have time to grow lean, tough, big and mean for their NHL debuts. OkThatSmells 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Kane weighs 160. Is he not NHL material? Patrick Kane will be good but he's no Crosby. He honestly is not NHL ready yet. If he plays more than half a season this year it will only be because the Hawks have such a bad team.
