Brendan Smith should be good.

Joakim Anderson should be good.

Then we drafted a canadian forward and a canadian defenceman, This draft worked out well for the wings. Lots of size , all our prospects are over 6 foot.

Yeah I am excited to see how they all turn out, nice job for the wings adding some bigger guys for our team

It says Torquato was convicted of assualt......there may be hope yet! :P

Serious question...do you any of these guys actually use there size to play physical? I remember people being pleased with the size of Matt Hussey when we signed him last offseason!

You have to actually use your size for it to mean anything.

Torquato will be the steal of the draft for Detroit. Had the pleasure to watch him play here in Saginaw the past two years (alongside 2006 Wings pick Jan Mursak). He will rack up some goals, will go into the corners if needed, will get back defensively - a good player! More than a point a game last season in the OHL (in only his 2nd year in the league). Good player. The comparisson I saw of him to Mike Sillinger is dead on - except maybe add a little more fire power to Torquato!

As for the "assult conviction" - do not start on that, please! That was a HUGE story all season here in Saginaw. It appears to be more of a case of someone (a girl) doing some things that she later regretted with 5 hockey players (including last years 1st rd pick for New Jersey, Matt Corrente). After her parents found out they filed charges because their 'innocent' daughter would NEVER have been a part of anything like this... anyway, it was a MISDEMEANER & the players all got 2 years probation. It's not like he killed someone or anything. The story was blown out of proportion.

The assault thing was just a joke since im always clamoring for toughness. I had no idea what the charge was even for.

I'm pretty happy with what the Wings got in the Draft .

I like the sounds of Torquato and Andersson especially. Torquato is a player that excites me , he has got great potential and I was really surprised that he fell that far for us to pick him up so late . Andersson I'm liking his size and think he could be a really good player in the long run for the Wings . I don't know much about Smith but if Holland takes the chance and drafts him in the first round then i'm confident he'll be a great D- man for year's to come. Cameron and Rufenach I know absolutly nothing about but as I said Kenny know's what he's doing , So i'm sure they have good potential too.

I'm diggin' the picks too.

And knowing our scouting staff, a few of these guys are surely going to be here in a few years and NHL contributors.

Huh? This case doesnt show anything. Judging from the articles, Torquato is not some "find" by the Wings scouting staff. Everyone knew about him but passed. He fell and fell and inevitably someone eventually took him.

i dont know about torquato , but i do think andersson will be a good 3rd-4th line player on our team that will hit guys , brendan smith is the guy im excited about hes got some nice upside , i saw some videos he looks really good , i think he can be a really good player for us down the line with kindl and kronwall

Overall it was a solid draft for the wings.

Brendan Smith: A bit under the radar and even though IMO, they passed on better prospects, the selection of Smith should still be good.

Joakim Andersson: This is a nice value pick here. He is our most surefire prospect of this draft. Although I saw that video on MLIVE, and he really needs to improve his skating. He makes Bertuzzi look like marty st. louis.

Randy Cameron: Never heard of the dude, and it looks they went for a safe pick here. Probably a 3rd/4th line player

Zack Torquato: A huge steal here by the wings. Good all-around player and is definitely an NHL caliber player.

BRYAN RUFENACH: Don't know about this dude either. Another role player???

This was a weak draft class so I can see why the wings played it safe.
