You should have sucked it up a little harder for Lang then. <_<

I never hated Lang as a person. I just hated Lang as a player. Mainly because he has a lot of talent that he chooses not to use. Instead, he chooses to be lazy (sound familier?!).

Oh Christ. I'm a homer because of that?

I could have pulled a Draperfan and just ranted on and off until I turned blue about him. At the time though, I was in favor of the move, because the Wings needed a player like Bertuzzi. But after the way he played here, which he was basically useless, that notion soured on me. I still wanted him back, because I believed he could still be a factor if healthy.

But now, after seeing he left because Holland wouldn't fork over money he's not worth, well that's the straw that broke the camel's back. It isn't just about the length, like you all like to believe. The real fact is cash dollars, and Bertuzzi wanted a lot more then he's worth. Greed at it's finest.

Well, I mean you say you are not fans of players before or after but only while they are on teh wings... what do you call that? a fan of all players except those NOT on the wings?

Haha, that's why I love Lang. Everyday he went into work and thought, "I have talent....but I CHOOSE not to use it today..." lol

Whatever :P

I never said I hate every player that isn't a Red Wing. There are a ton of players in the league that I like that don't play for the Wings. Joe Thornton is my favorite non-Red Wing player. My next favorite is Derek Boogard. Any more questions?

I just don't like Bertuzzi. I did like him when he played on the Wings, mainly because I figured he could help us. But since he's gone, and no longer on the team I root for, I have no reason to like him.

As for anyone else is concerened: It isn't a "Red Wing or not" thing. There are plenty of players in this league that I like that don't play for the Wings. Most of them fighters. Still, that's irrelevant.

Bertuzzi is the exception though, since I never liked him before he came here. I figured he would help us, so I changed my opinion of him. Now that he's gone though, and really didn't help us like I had thought, I have no reason to like him anymore.

Why do you care so much anyways? You like Bertuzzi. I don't. What's the big deal?

Thank the LORD IN HEAVEN. I was ready for bertuzzi to leave the minute he got here. other than the (very) occasional flash of brilliance, he was a liability the whole season. He was slow, clumsy and useless. and anyone who says that he provided size and strength is sadly mistaken. I could count on one hand the number of big hits I saw him lay out. He was lousy. This is awesome.

Then I'll stop.

By the way, I think that's the first time I've seen you reply in non-pirate talk in a very long time. :P

You know, this whole argument is too bad.

I AM deeply sad about Bertuzzi leaving. I was so excited when we got him. I loved the thought of his big body banging around out there...especially when he's healthy. I'm sad that we couldn't at least see how it would all pan out.

Then again, I liked Bertuzzi in Vancouver, and I wasn't one of those people who just hated him after the Moore incident. I met the guy and he's a really, really nice great guy, and I'd love to see him be able to make amends in the Detroit uniform.

Now that he's gone, I am really sad, because...it'll never happen. :(

And I think it's sort of out of line to call people groupies because they are upset about a player leaving...

it's different if you've always liked the guy. but if you've always "disliked" or "hated" the guy before he was a wing, then all of the sudden "love" the guy in his short and non-memorable stint as a wing, then i'd question your reasoning or sanity. it's not like the guy took a bullet for stevie or something while he was here. other than his "potential", what did bert do to deserve such admiration (and remember, we're coming from a perspective of someone who used to dislike him while he was still in vancouver)? sure, nobody needs to justify their reasoning to me, but i'm tired of all the whining about it. and i'm tired about people endlessly bashing holland for not making it happen. i'm pretty sure bert wouldn't have taken a 2/5m contract over a 2/8m contract just to stay in detroit. imo, anything over 2.5m/yr for him is overpaying. besides, i'm sure bert is much more comfortable being himself in burke's system anyway. to say it was only about the term of the contract is a bit naive.

WOW.

So it's wrong for me to have wanted to see what he could of done with a full season with the Wings? It's wrong that I love the idea of having a bad ass such as Bert on our team? It's pretty much pointless talking to you seeing as how regardless you're going to keep bringing up me and my 'sanity.'

You're taking the hate/dislike of Bert too literally--she means she didn't like the guy because he was a ***** to play against. That's all. This isn't a Pronger kind of loathing there, just a competitive one

I think it was about money too. But why did people take a shine to him? Ask yourself: Why the buzz in the media in the first place then?

people were excited because Bert filled a role we were/are sorely not lacking, but -empty- in. That's why... we'll see in Anaheim if he's still got anything in him, but I agree on the overpaying--but at this point, it doesn't really matter does it? We got no one and 7mill left to toss around. On no one.

i'm sure there are a lot of folks who would have liked to see that as well. but i'm also sure the majority of those people wouldn't want to sign bert to a 2/8m contract for that pleasure. it's obvious that the red wing front office, and most red wing fans here at lgw, didn't see enough in bert's play to justify such a contract either. he hasn't been the same player since his stint with the 'nucks, and his health is a HUGE question mark. i have no problem whatsoever with the fact that we didn't re-sign him under those terms.

my frustration is that instead of showing faith in the red wing front office, you bash them for not trying hard enough to keep bert around. ilitch, devellano, holland, nil, yzerman, bowman, and babcock have shown us year after year that they know how to ice a championship caliber team. on the other hand, big bert has shown us nothing. i, for one, like our chances next season without bert. and i choose to give my accolades to those who actually deserve it.

Couldn't agree with you more. He does have great hands, but he has degenerative disc disease and chronic low back pain. He will forever be a shell of a hockey player he once was. Next year will prove if he has what it takes, but I forecast that he'll be out most of the year!

And for the record, I hated him before he was a Wing. Even with disliking him, the second the Wings signed him I was happy because I knew it would make our team better. Plus the guy is a badass, and the Wings haven't had someone like him years. That and he seemed like a very genuine guy and not the ******* everyone made him out to be. THAT is why I like him.

looks like just plain 'ol "hate" and "dislike" to me, but whatever. i'm tired of talking about it. it's a done deal. big bert is gone. whoever wants to keep jugglin' his nuts, they can do it in anaheim. it's time to get over it.

Anaheim won the cup and you didn't see people quit talking about it for a week--same thing, let 'em talk. It's not a big deal.

And nah it ain't, you remember Cheli at all? We sure "hated" him... nah we didn't, we just didn't like dealing with him, then he came to us. If that's the same as actual hate (Pronger) to you, you gotta pay attention.

i think bertuzzi's history is a lot closer to pronger's than cheli's... but, i get what you're saying. still, usually when people say they hate bertuzzi, they often mean that they hate him both as a player and a person. that's not to say that this is true in reem's case, but whatever... i'm not trying to read between the lines.

As for Bertuzzi.... I love him! I love him for the man he wants to be. And I love him for the man he almost is.

Guy Love!

Cheers Q!

I get what you mean, and yeah - they usually do. I wouldn't want to hear the "yo i hate what he is and did to Moore and all that" spiel and then turn around either, and Reem can definitely talk for herself, but that's not what I pick up from her.

Bert's in the past already for me, but the trade deadline ain't gonna come fast enough.

Thanks Flip check.

Let me say something for one last time.

I disliked Bert because of the Moore incident. Prior to that, I disliked him because he was such a great player, and such a pain in the ass to play against. I remember after we beat the Nucks in '02 I kept telling my Dad that as much as I didn't like Bert that I would love for him to be on our side. When we aquired him in February, I got REALLY excited because I wanted to see what he could do, and I knew what he was capable of. Also, watching him in interviews, and such made me realize that outside of hockey he's not a bad guy, and actually very down to earth, and genuine. So really, that all together made me like, and respect the guy. I was 'sad' when he went to the Ducks because I believe that he really could of done some damage here. That is all.

Are things more clear now? Geeeeeez.

and to add I feel he didn't get a chance to break enough heads here... IMHO... but alas I will have to watch him on the ducks....

Hey Kenny , Thanks for "waiting" for the smoke to clear and missing out on Bertuzzi.

Im definately not booing Bert , I hope he has a great season with the ducks. Im liking the Ducks alot now ...

How the F* could you like that team. They had the easiest playoff route. Stole two games from us. Had J.S. carry them there. Plus thier fans suck!!! I live in Anaheim and seriously after the cup celebration (Which sucked) nobody gave two s***s about the team or the CUP for that matter. Some of the fans only know like two players. The only thing cool about the ducks is the music thats played in the Pond (oh wait the Honda Center lame) Bro Hymns a sweet goal song too bad their horn sucks.

Worst fans in the NHL, Cheap and lucky players, and J.S.'s back can't hold up forever.

Sometimes you just gotta expand your sights past the hometeam if you have favorites residing elseware around the league.... I, myself, have no problem rooting for Bert on the Ducks.... the exact same as I didn't have any problem rooting for Bert on the Canucks.... He didn't really even play on the panthers so that is a moot point.
