Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 I couldve sworn he signed somewhere yesterday...guess not. Nice to eliminate him though regardless.
datsyukonethree 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 He's a good player for that team. Solid in both ends. I would have liked to see him return to the Caps, but I didn't want him here. He's not the type of guy we need.
Hank 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 BREAKING NEWS: The New Jersey Devils have signed C/LW Dainius Zubrus to a 6-year contract, TFP has learned. 6 years ??? suckers lmao there so gonna regret this deal Unbelievable! What's up with all these long term deals? It's like noboby wants to sign for less than 4 years now.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 (edited) Lucious Lou still hasn't learned from the Malakhov/Mogilny/McGillis signings, has he? 6 years is a lot to invest in a guy that is totally unproven while not playing with Ovechkin. New Jersey doesn't have any true offensivily savvy guys anyways (sorry Elias and Gionta), so I don't know who they are going to use as Zubrus' set up man. He clearly can't do it himself. StevieY9802 6 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 yeah I don't get all these long term deals for some of these guys. I mean Rafalski seemed like he wanted to end his career here, and 5 years is ok for that. But 6 years for Zubrus? whatever.

Couldn't disagree with you more. Elias is a monster and Gionta is not to shabby either. You put them on a team not named the Devils and they'll be almost as good as Lecavalier-St. Louis in terms of point production. Also, Zubrus IS the set-up man, not the other way around like you've suggested. A fine replacement for Gomez is you ask me. Wonder how much they paid though, although knowing Lou, probably not that much. Edited July 3, 2007 by kozac

Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 Hahaha. You haven't really watched any of these three players play, have you? Yes I have watched them. Elias is overated and overpaid. Gionta was good last year, but took a major step back this year. If these guys are so good, then why is it that every year, the story of the New Jersey Devils is that they can't score goals? Maybe on another team both Elias and Gionta could become star players. But they will never be that on the Devils.

Opie 308 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 Elias overrated ?? You kidding me ?????? I would love to see him in Detroit !!! Him or Gionta, Gionta maybe undersized but this kid plays with intensity and fire. He may not be a big gritty winger, but his game has tenacity and toughness. Not fighting toughness but he is hard to clear out of a spot he has grabbed.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 Elias overrated ?? You kidding me ?????? I would love to see him in Detroit !!! Maybe not overated. But he is definitly overpaid. Not saying I wouldn't want him in Detroit, as here he would probably be great, but the chances are not that good.
RedRockit 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 I resisted posting on most of the "would Zubrus be a WingFit" because most posters were so negative and adamant NOT, that , I doubted my own perceptions. He's good, very good. He was integral to Buffalo's success this year:.. daringly saying, perhaps as much as Drury. (yeah, not AS much, but I think he was #3 after Chris and Miller. I was a longtime Briere fan until I got schooled by an old-school SabreFriend.... (but that's another subject) I would have been way vocal calling for him to wear Red if I thouoght that we could afford him. Always knew we couldn't, but daaaannnnngggg. The worst of this signing is that it DEFINITELY means BUF has the bux to sign Vanek to a great contract. Ohwell.
