Bert44Wingsfan 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 I may sound like an idiot here, but is Sheldon Souray still available? I know Karsh and the Gator were talking about how good a fit he'd be in Detroit today on 1270, but maybe he's already taken. I may sound like an idiot here, but is Sheldon Souray still available? Vladiator 116 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 Gotta say this really sucks to start thinking about considering some of the bottom feeders in the UFA market. If we could have gotten Smyth for the price that the Av's got him for, this thread would not even be here. Fortunetly the Wings draft well so I am not to concerned. Whichever one of those clowns was talking today about Trevor Linden being a good signing for the Wings should become a mime.
ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 one good forward Holland, come on, just one. It wont bankrupt you to sign ONE.
Salviaman 104 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 1.) Sign Hasek (no brainer). 2.) The way I see it sp far is that we need to get a 2nd line scorer/winger and someone to replace what Lang brought to the team. I wouldn't mind seeing Yashin come here for a 1 year deal discount with bonus incenitives, he would not have to worry about being the #1 guy on the team here in Detroit like he was with the NYI. I would like to see Bill Guerin sign to a 2 year deal for a good deal., he is a decent sized forward and would fit in with the guys on our team. Those are my ideal replacements through UFA unless we go for others by a trade. 3.) Try to sign Peter Forsberg Lindros might be a good fit but I dont want to see him get injured here. Kozlov would be a nice fit if we can not get Guerin to a deal. If we have to get a depth D-man maybe we can get Markov when the market goes down llike last year when we got him last year in July. It would be nice to have him back on the team if we have enough cap space to do so.

Heaton 1 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 I don't see how Asham helps this team at all, we don't need anymore 3rd or 4th liners.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 (edited) I don't see how Asham helps this team at all, we don't need anymore 3rd or 4th liners. Hes better then Samuelsson. Hes tough , big and stands up for his teammates. He has good offensive talent as well , 11 goals on a 3rd line with nobody. On our 2nd line he could 20 goals. Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 I don't see how Asham helps this team at all, we don't need anymore 3rd or 4th liners. Well that all depends on how you view the 3rd or 4th liners. I dont like Hudler, Samuelsson, or Kopecky. I know Sammy's not going to go anywhere (and obviously Maltby who i dont even bother mentioning), but Kopecky hasnt shown squat to deserve a spot automatically. Hudler i think should be out because he has no real place here.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 I don't see how Asham helps this team at all, we don't need anymore 3rd or 4th liners. Asham is way better then Samulesson. I keep hopeing Samulesson breaks his face or something, or gets traded for pucks. Asham is also more valuable then Kopecky and Hudler. Kopecky, like Lou said, has done nothing to deserve an automatic spot. I want Hudler off this team too. We dont' need a small forward. Asham is big, and he fights. And I know you'll appreciate this Heaton: He's not a no talent goon either. 11 goals for a checking line forward is pretty damn good in my opinion. ...and itd be nice to have more than just 3 north american forwards out of 13 Definitly. If the Wings are ever going to get respect from other teams, other fans, and the media, they can start by getting some North Americans on the team. Sorry, but people like to poke fun at pre-dominitly European teams, and I'm really getting tired of hearing about it all the time. Amidst the applause of your own suggestion, please delete Fedotenko Good idea. Just what the Wings don't need. Another soft, scoring forward.
spydrwebb 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 i think the fact that gelinas could be acquired cheaply increases his appeal. he could bring veteran leadership and some offense to a line that needs it. if we're spending very little to get him, how do we lose? i'm not sold on asham either. o'neill makes more sense between the two. saprykin would be another great option. definitely want nothing to do with forsberg. hasek will sign and kenny is out of his mind if the demand is more than 2.5M, IMO. I definitely would love to see O'neil here, I forgot he was still available. However, I don't think he'll come cheap, and knowing Holland he's only looking to spend crazy cheap. I think we have more of a shot at landing Comrie or Asham. Edited July 4, 2007 by ShanahanMan
