Say what the Wings would do if owned by the members of LGW.

These are from this thread, 2 years ago:

Robert Lang and Nick Lidstrom would be traded away for "gritty power forward types," only to be reacquired a week later in exchange for Manny Legace, Jiri Hudler, and draft picks.

At the trade deadline we would get the top 5 scorers in the NHL in exchange for 5 hershey bars and a carton of Lucky Strikes. And, they would all take huge pay cuts because it is "an honor" to play for the Wings.

The wings will be traded away for gritty power forwards and Witt and Salei will be the ONLY D men on the ice. We will not need a goalie at all. Because other teams have all our goalies and we have all the gritty power forwards. We get elimnated from the first round by an expansion team that has the current wings roster that we traded away for Gritty power forwards and Witt and Salei. Witt and Salei will take shifts at goal when need be. But nobody's comming across the redline due to the gritty power forwards.

My Favorite:

Oh my God, what a nightmare! Yzerman would be allowed to play as much as he wants, whenever he wants regardless of how ineffective or poorly he may play. Young players would continually be relegated to bench warmers so Yzerman can see ice time and he would not be accountable to anyone.....oh wait, that sounds a lot like the Dave Lewis era.

We call Babcock into our office, and make it clear, that Steve Yzerman, and not the team comes first. Yzerman's happiness and making Steve look good is the number one priority, everything else is secondary.

PS. Stevie would be awarded with a new contract, $8 million per year for an unlimited number of years. Steve calls the shots! It's just our way of saying thanks for years of loyal service when he played for free (oh wait... nevermind...). We would then be forced to deal Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg in order to fit under the salary cap (we tried to deal Lang, but there were no takers), but that's okay because we signed Yzerman and made him happy. We would also free up some salary by cutting Dan Cleary and other younger non-established players so we could sign Steve Thomas and any other friend of Steve's that he wishes to have on the team. Yzerman has final say on any and all personnel decisions.

And now to start off another one:

-We would sign Smyth, Kozlov, Drury, and Souray with the remaining $8 million.

-Franzen would be a capable goal scorer, and Filppula would easily center the second line.

-Nobody would know anything about hockey except for YOU.

-Aaron Asham's gritty play would make up for the 122 points that have left to free agency.

- Thank God there isn't a GM in this league who'd take Lilja/Maltby/Kronwall in a trade,'cause they're all beasts.

-Hudler would win the Rocket Richard Trophy if Babs gave him a spot in our 2nd line.

Trade a 4th round pick to chicago for Tuomo Ruutu(1.5 mill).

^^ LOOOOOOOOOOOOL

christ, when i read that today i jus wonder what some ppl on here are thinking.

Sign Asham. Offer Dustin Penner 2.5 million. Sign Dominik for 1.5 plus incentives. Waive Samuelsson. Use Ference.

If Grigorenko sucks, then get another top six forward (Mats Sundin) at the deadline.

This one takes the cake...jus cuz its pretty funny response to his opinion...

Arron Asham would be a great pickup for the Wings. Obviously you don't watch any other teams beside's Detroit. Otherwise, you would know this.

Might drop his gloves, can't score much and barely able to crack most NHL team's 4th line. Was there another A. Asham you were referring to?

:lol::lol::clap:

Obviously not many are big on the Asham signing. Oh well, I still stand by it.

By the way, I never said he would be a top 6 forward. I want him on this team because he will fight, something that nobody on this current team would even think of doing (no, Lilja doesn't count either). Just getting that out there.

Also, I've never made any suggestions for top 6 signings, since there isn't dick left in that market. Bill Guerin won't come. So who is else is left? Comrie? Yashin? Give me a break.

Now, on with the backstabbing! :P

People would probably make offers to Lundqvist and sign Hasek , while waiving Osgood.

Sign Yashin and Brent Sopel

Fire Babcock and pick up Playfair so Hudler would get amazing minutes and score 100 goals.

 Samuelsson is terrible , no one wants him yet Kenny keeps him around. Think about it.

Your probably one of the guys that doesnt want grit on this team , if so , ference can stay in thr AHL.

Anyways I thought

Hudler scoring 30 goals was pretty funny. and Samuelsson being a top 6 forward is a riot. Also , how there are posters on this board who actually beleive you can win the cup with no grit , thats good. And all the haters who wouldnt take Asham or Neil on this team.

Duhhh... I want Samuelsson around. I imagine many others do as well. Where else could we find a 20-goal/45-pt scorer in for $1.5m? In the cap era, guys like him are invaluable.

Please don't turn this into a clone of every other thread. Stick with the spirit of the thread or post where people want to hear those opinions.

Mods, can you delete the posts by Detroit # 1 Fan, Kp-Wings, bullockz?

Not sure if you have the ability to do that...

STICK WITH THE SPIRIT OF THE THREAD!

Just refreshed, and... *sigh*
