WHY has no one looked at Nikita Alexeev yet?!?!?

UFA - The guy is 6'5, almost 230 and can fly for a big guy, he's been on garbage lines, playing garbage minutes his whole NHL career and has not been on a squad that really fit his style. He put up 12 goals and 23 pts between Chicago and Tampa last year, yet again, playing garbage minutes. I think he would be a steal if he came here and would blossom playing with guys like Hank, Dats, and to a younger degree, on a line with Flip or Huds, he could be tutored by Holmstrom to be another big body out front and would be hard to move at that size... also, he'd be dirt cheap and if it wasn't working on the big squad, he could split time between here and GR... I think he would explode here and be another guy the Wings put out there that every one else is like "why didn't we take that guy"

WTF? Did you just say he was fast? He's slower than Allison. Just because he's big doesn't mean he's good. The guy sucks, badly. I can't believe you actually made this topic.

I would rather use Huddles for this duds i mean dudes minutes...

Plus, he is not a defensemen he will in no way shape or form solidify our cup run next year.

I don't know why you have to spam every thread with this. It's almost as bad as the pirate thing.

I'm looking towards the future as well, I'm not saying he's a solution to this year, just a guy that is available right now that could help us in the long run...

have you ever actually watched him play? you wouldn't be saying this if you had. he has so much un-tapped potential, it's sick and yes, he is fast for a guy his size, like I said... he's not going to blaze past Andy McDonald, but he's a hell of a lot faster than most other guys at 6'5 in the league...

Nikita Alexeen and Evgeni Artyukhin are two of my favorite "unknown" guys in NHL 2K7. They are both 6'5 and around 230 lbs, and both are rated with above average skating ability and agility. I've traded for one or both of them in each of my online seasons, and have found them to be very useful on the 3rd and 4th lines.

And last season I went 98-0-0 including playoffs. Draper had his 3rd consecutive 50+ goal season that included 15+ shorties. Sergei Fedorov had his 6th or 7th straight 100+ goal season. Hank and Pav turned in their 2nd consecutive 120+ goal seasons. I traded my 1st round pick and 2 guys from the FA list for Ovechkin. Luongo (acquired in the epic deal for Hasek, 2nd round pick, and Markov) had a .53 GAA, and 29 SO.

haha, exactly... I don't think a video game is the best judge of ability but people watch his game in real life, they will see the untapped talent... outside of the gamers realm

Alexeev is lazy and he sucks.

Big bodies that don't play even a hint of physical is a major waste. His offensive numbers aren't anything spectacular either, since he couldn't even crack a scoring line in Chicago. No thanks.

I forgot where I was for a moment and will clarify. I am in no way saying that one should evaluate a player based on how they perform for you in a video game. As pointed out by BringHomeTheCup!, when he plays his hockey video game(s) he can practically do anything.

The ratings for these hockey players in video games are based on real hockey players with real statistics and scouting reports. I was trying to lend support the position that the OP offered that Nikita Alexeev was a good skater for his size. Watching the OP do a 180 on his stance while looking for the next pair of nuts to swing from is pretty funny. Thanks kids.

FYI, the NHL 2K games don't get their player ratings from STATS INC like EA does, they have one guy who rates every player. I've met him at E3 a few times. He's not an idiot, but when one guy rates every player in the NHL for a video game and he doesn't scout them or have any contact with outside sources, don't tend to believe the ratings in those games.

I'm sure TSN does its homework...

Assets: Has excellent size and speed for a 6-5 winger. Displays a ton of untapped offensive potential

Flaws: Needs to develop better coordination in order to dominate the pro game physically. Must improve his play without the puck. Has to remain healthy

Career potential: Top six winger

TSN's scouting report of him doesn't mean he's good. Even Chicago fans don't want him back. He sucks. Get over it, and move on. Is he your boyfriend or something? You're defending him awfully hard.

hahahaha, your mom didn't hug you enough did she?

I never changed my stance, I said from the very beginning that I thought he had great potential. period.

I'm not the one who referenced a video game in the first place, so how is that a 180? - I just think backing up a point with a video game is a little weak, sorry

yea, Chicago didn't even want Cleary back either... you think he sucks???????

Also, yea, Mark Cullen, that's a great grab... the point I'm making, is that he is not the solution to everything and might not even turn into a great player, but has the potential and at very least is worth a minor league contrac... he would cost us nothing, so give one good reason not to sign him and to sign a Mark Cullen - Shoot.

Many people on this forum apparently pride themselves on making posts based on total assumptions about players they in fact know next to nothing about, then say "WHY HASN'T KENNY SIGNED HIM??? HE WOULD BE GREAT FOR OUR TEAM!"

The ratings for hockey players in video games are atrocious. If you're playing NHL 2K7, for example, go take a look at the rosters for Buffalo and Anaheim. You'll find that they both have zero offensive capability whatsoever.

I can assure you that Mark Cullen is probably 1000 times better then Alexeev. And I really don't like Cullen all that much anyways.

Alexeev is a horribly soft player for his size. He also has injury problems. Is that really what defines a good signing for you?

It does count for something though, and frankly I'd put more stock in their analysis than in yours. I mean, they ARE Canadian!!!

yet again, when it comes to a chance signing, yes, a great one. Everyone keeps replying to this like I'm stating he is going to be the next Eric Lindros in his prime, how bad do I need to drive it home that he may turn into nothing, but for a 2 way contract, I see absolutely no reason not to take a shot on him.

Also, Matt Cullen, yes, Mark Cullen, not so much.
