raasc1dj 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 i just thought of that because he has signed at least 3 minor league players and signed Rafalski fo the wings... just seemed like that could've waited til he got the wings in order

Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 The Minors is the Wings guy. You have to keep that stocked for depth, and bring in good quality guys to help develop your prospects. Of course you could have said a signing like Cleary was a minor league move when it happened because it didn't look like he would make the team. Then he surprised people. The signings help all the same and did not interfere with his free agent signings. The only thing that did impeed his ability to sign people is the cap and the time spent arguing with Hasek over a few dollars. The minors didn't have anything to do with a quiet offseason. FUUFNF 1 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 i just thought of that because he has signed at least 3 minor league players and signed Rafalski fo the wings... just seemed like that could've waited til he got the wings in order as it has been mentioned in a few of the other "kenny holland" threads, the detroit red wings organization signed those 3 minor leaguers. i'm pretty sure holland wasn't too directly involved with those signings. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 Well, Holland certainly isn't focusing on pleasing the members of LGW. What's he thinking?
Rice 42 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 Well, Holland certainly isn't focusing on pleasing the members of LGW. What's he thinking? No, because if he were Hall and Asham would be in our top six -- unless of course he decided to spend $8.5 million on Guerin and Bertuzzi. Then we wouldn't even need to overpay for Hasek at $2 million! Maybe he should've signed Smyth and Rafalski and given up any chance he had at re-signing Zetterberg in two years! Who ever said Asham would be in the top 6? Why dont you go back and read the posts , anyone who said they wanted him said it because we wanted someone to stick up for Datsyuk and Zetterberg when they get run and cheapshoted , which they will. When the $$$ came out , no one was bitching over Guerin and Bertuzzi. Hasek at 2 mil is a steal , anyone bitching is just a Dom hater. Signing Rafalski and Smyth would not hinder us from signing Zetterberg in two years , thats 2 years away , the cap could be at 60 million by then , it wasent impossible. First of all, Datsyuk and Zetterberg are going to get run either way. Asham isn't going to change that. Oh, and no one was bitching about Guerin and Bertuzzi? Really? Secondly, you couldn't be more wrong about the bolded statement. The Wings would have Lidstrom, Rafalski, Datsyuk, Smyth, and Zetterberg with contracts of over $6 million. Even if the cap were at $60 million, that's around half of your money spent on five guys. No chance.

Guest Crymson Report post Posted July 6, 2007 is it just me or does it seem like Holland focused more on the minors rather than the Wings! -i kow its supposed to be thought... Is this another veiled, needless, completely baseless criticism of Holland? I think so. Yes, it's just you.. you, and the people who'd like to find any reason to bash Holland. joshy207 156 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 Talk about a powerplay quarterback... Yeah, but then Datsyuk would have to give up #13, because Marino is older and has played longer. Isn't that how it works??
ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 it makes sense, think about how much we used Grand Rapids because of injury, we need to make sure they are stocked with good back ups, and young developing talent that will eventually crack the line up. We also are waiting for this huge theme of over spending is over so that teams can realize the places they put themselves, then the wings will have there picks.
