Mighty Wings 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2007 (edited) http://www.whatifsports.com/nhl/boxscore.a...110754&ad=1 I thought we were supposed to be a good defensive team, but how in the world do we give up 5 goals????? grsbmd 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2007 It's probably cause the '90 red wings got away with a ton of clutching and grabbing. 12 total penalty minutes tells you it wasn't reffed by today's standards. Oh and the '90 team had Yzerman.

Oh and the '90 team had Yzerman. I think that result has more to do with Hasek having a bad game. I mean Steve Chiasson was a good player with a great slapshot and all...but did he ever score two goals in a game in his life? At any level?? Oh, and Yzerman's time on ice is way below what he would have played in 90...probably should be closer to 27 or 28 total minutes instead of 16.

Its funny you bring up Chiasson scoring 2 goals in one game. Im watching the 1991 playoff series vs. the blues on the NHL network and in Game 2 Chiasson scored 2 goals
Johnny Diamonds 25 Report post Posted July 9, 2007 As soon as I looked at the page I knew Chiasson had to atleast have one goal! R.I.P Steve
Barrie 900 Report post Posted July 9, 2007 http://www.whatifsports.com/nhl/boxscore.a...110911&ad=1 Cool site, but the ice time is very unrealistic. Check out this game I had against the 1951-52 Wings @ 2001-02 Wings. If the top players played that much they'd die.

Barrie 900 Report post Posted July 9, 2007 (edited) http://www.whatifsports.com/nhl/boxscore.a...110937&ad=1 I what if'ed another game between the 1995-96 Wings @ 1976-77 Canadiens, and again the time on ice was brutal! Grimson 27:23 Errey 20:49 Lidstrom 16:58 Yzerman 13:46 Ciccarelli 12:28 Fedorov 12:28 Larionov 11:48 As if!? Didn't the NHL use this program for the Greatest NHL Team Tournament during the lockout? I followed a long a bit, but when I looked at the time on ice, it lost all credibility in my mind and I stopped checking out the results. http://www.whatifsports.com/nhl/boxscore.a...110754&ad=1 I thought we were supposed to be a good defensive team, but how in the world do we give up 5 goals????? It's because the time on ice is all screwed up. Draper only had 3:56, all on the PP, and Franzen just 1:06, total, and all on 5 on 5. Also, look at the 89-90 side, Gallant 29:58, Kocur 23:54, and Yzerman 16:44. Also, did you see that Williams and Calder played in the same game for 06-07 ? Edit: I know it's only sim, but it needs to be more realistic or else it loses credibility. Ok, I did one more, 1996-97 Wings @ 1995-96 Avs. Kozlov had 0:41 seconds on ice THE ENTIRE GAME!? KOZLOV!! That was basically how it was in the 50s..the Wings played the top line an insane amount. I can't speak to the accuracy of the ice time numbers, but I know the Lindsay/Abel/Howe line generally played a s*** ton more than top lines do now.
FireCaptain 563 Report post Posted July 9, 2007 (edited) In what SHOULD have been the Cup matchup this year (team-wise, not outcome-wise).. Game 1: Wings start series with a victory. http://www.whatifsports.com/nhl/boxscore.a...112204&ad=1 Game 2: Ottawa sneaks a win at the Joe. http://www.whatifsports.com/nhl/boxscore.a...112207&ad=1 Game 3: Ottawa's momentum carries into game 3. http://www.whatifsports.com/nhl/boxscore.a...112208&ad=1 Game 4: This isn't going well. http://www.whatifsports.com/nhl/boxscore.a...112210&ad=1 Game 5: Uh oh, Sens in 5. http://www.whatifsports.com/nhl/boxscore.a...112212&ad=1 This is like shaking a magic 8 ball. Guest jaytan Report post Posted July 9, 2007 I just ran the '07 Western Conference Finals and we beat the Ducks in Five. Even got a 3-1 win in Game Two with Ozzie in net (I couldn't resist). Anaheim's only win was Game Four in Anaheim, 4-1. This proves that the real world gets it wrong sometimes. The 2006 Tigers beat the 1984 Tigers in seven games.... Man, I'm going to be on this stupid site all day.

Guest jaytan Report post Posted July 9, 2007 I did the same thing, and '89-90 won in six. And the '98 Wings beat the '02 Wings in six too (Ozzie got a shut out in the last game). The results come back so differently every time that I really wonder how they set this up.
