Viperar 16 Report post Posted July 9, 2007 always a good sign... "NEW YORK (CP) - Another year, another increase in the online sale of NHL merchandise. The National Hockey League announced Monday that sales on its website (shop.NHL.com) increased for the 10th straight season and that this year was its biggest ever. Online sales of NHL-licensed products were up 47 per cent compared to last year, according to the league. The Buffalo Sabres and Stanley Cup-champion Anaheim Ducks were the two biggest gainers, with sales up by 497 per cent and 339 per cent, respectively. Overall, 27 of the league's 30 clubs showed gains this year compared to 2006. Not surprisingly, Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby's jersey was the top selling uniform on the website for the fiscal year ending June 30. Buffalo Sabres jerseys were also a hot item, with Ryan Miller, Chris Drury, Maxim Afinogenov and Daniel Briere rounding out the top five. Anaheim and the Ottawa Senators, who met in the Stanley Cup final, both experienced significant sales growth on the website in June. The Ducks' sales increased a whopping 1,498 per cent while the Senators were up 473 per cent. Overall, 17 of 30 teams increased their sales last month." http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?articleid=33167...mp;service=page

CenterIce 83 Report post Posted July 10, 2007 Everybody wants to be current with jerseys, so this would be expected with the change to the form fitting jerseys.

That's been my beef with the NHL Shop. Not only that, but the selection sucks. I barely find anything I want there, and if there is something I do want to buy, the team I want isn't available. I'd do better going to eBay or asking my in-laws to get me and my husband something at Hockeytown Authentics.
WingNut 25 5 Report post Posted July 10, 2007 Let's hope they put some of that revenue into improving their overall systems. Shop.NHL.com is pretty awful.
Statts 4 Report post Posted July 10, 2007 Hmm… seems like I’m in the minority here. I have ordered off of NHL.com many times and have never had any problems.

Cicada 4 Report post Posted July 10, 2007 seems to me if sales increased so much for teams like the ducks, then that tells me sales were fairly terrible before. a 1400% increase means a lot if it's 20,000 up to 300,000, but not a lot if it's 100 up to 1500... That's why they always post percentages in the first place, because most Joes will go "Whoa! I am impressed", but it really means nothing. Remember what Winston Churchill said about stats.
