Whats next? Next we sign Peter Forsberg to a 1 year deal at around 3-3.5 mill with incenitivies in case he does not play more than half the games for the guys. All we need him for is the playoffs! If we got him in our lineup in April... Detroit will be awesome.

IF we can not sign him I think we are getting Yashin. He wont have the pressure of being the #1 guy who contributes with Detroit like he did with the NYI. Plus Datsyuk would have another Russian buddy to talk to!!!

Holland said the Wings still have between $3 and 4 million left to spend, but he'd be happy going to training camp with the players they have already.

"We want to see where our young guys like Igor Grigorenko, Matt Ellis and Kyle Quincey are at," Holland said. "If a veteran forward or defenseman pops up before training camp and it's for the right money we'll add him. If not, we're heading to Traverse City with what we have."

All Drakes signing means is that we are not expecting to get any top six fowards.

Drake can free up Johan or Cleary from forth or third line duties to go up and be a top six guy. That is what that means, which means that if anymore money was going to be spent it would most likely be on a Dman.

More likely is no more money is going to be spent.

more likely we go in with the team we have and make a mid season trade.. Hudler will likely be the guy to go..

According to MLIVE, Markov is seeking between $3.5 and $4 million per year.

I dont blame him

That's what the Preds thought about Forsberg too, and look what it got them. The difference is that they paid dearly for him.

 He's not worth that!

EDIT:

Let me qualify here: He's not worth that much. It is, however, reasonable for him to expect a raise to $3 mill, IMHO.

Id definitley be willing to take a gamble on Forsberg. If he pans out he would be far better and less pricey than anyone we could aquire at the deadline. Not online would he be a perfect 2nd line center but i believe he would make Filpulla, Samuelson, Grigorenko better and make the 2nd line a force.

Homer-Dats-Zetterberg - cant complain, the line has proven to click

Filpulla-Forsberg-Samuelsson- Don't like samuelsson but i think he could excel with forsberg, maybe a little Swedish connection.

Cleary-Franzen-Grigorenko - Cleary was the best player we had in the playoffs, i thought Franzen grew alot as a player. I dont think Grigs is ready to be a top 6 forward just yet, maybe he can jump along with Filp, and Forsberg towards the end.

Maltby- Draper- Drake - as good of a 4th line you can get, although they are aging.

He can hit the road if that's what he wants.

I can't believe that he thinks he worth 4 million a year. What exactly did he do that would warrant him that much money?

Since the Flyers are in need to dump some salary I was wondering if trading Samuelsson and a 3rd (or even a 2nd) for Mike Knuble was an option?

Knuble has two years left on his 2.8 M contract, so he comes at a reasonable price and doesn't have an effect on the Zetterberg deal. He has size, is a good hard worker and a descent scorer plus he is still connected to the area (he plans to settle down in Grand Rapids).

Holland talked about the possibiliy of trading with a team in cap trouble. So what do you guys think?

It seams like our chances of resigning Markov have to be improving somewhat. I mean hell, the guy is STILL unsigned. That might give him the reality check he needs to get him signed for a reasonable price.

I would like that. There is a good chance it could happen, since Knuble is a former Wing (and we all know how Kenny feels about that :hehe: ).

Seriously though, Knuble would be a great pickup. A scoring winger for the 2nd line is exactly what this team is in dire need of right now. I'd love it if Kenny made a trade like that. You could also throw Hudler and Kopecky in there for good measure, while we're at it.
