Who will be the WORST NHL team this season?

The first one that popped in my head was Phoenix. Coyote0106, you're nice and I like you, but your coach couldn't lead a colony of ants to a melted Hershey bar. Dump him - dump him now, while you still have a chance.

And call it sour grapes if you wish, but I'd laugh my ass off if Anaheim imploded.

sadly, i don't see anaheim going anywhere. their kids will just get better, they are solid as anyone on the blue line, and their goaltending is top flight as well. as much as i hate pronger, i see them as far and away the cup favorite right now.

True. But IMO the potential loss of Selanne and Neidermayer is huge. Having Schneids and Bert will definitely help. But its definitely a down-grade to what they had last season. Even if its just slightly. IMO they will be just a little less talented then they were. So it lowers the odds just a tad that they will repeat. Hell, they may still repeat, who knows. But I feel alot more confident that they wont repeat, without them having Selanne and Scotty boy.

The Coyotes have had good prospects, before. And they reach their potential after the 'Yotes (i.e Briere).

The team is doomed for quite a long time. They fired Barnett which is a step in the right direction. Fire Gretzky, because IMO he is just a marketing ploy to get butts in the seats. But with all that said they're still going to win atleast have their games.....in the AHL.

All joking aside, they're going to blow this year. But I'll still be at the Joe for those two games in a yotes jersey.

My theory with the Coyotes is they saw the Penguins blow for a few consecutive years and then ****** up some good draft picks. I can't imagine any other reason to do just about nothing to improve a pathetic roster. It's pretty depressing, being a Coyotes fan as well.

Buffalo?

Them losing Briere and Drury enables guys like Vanek, Afinogenov, Stafford, Connolly, Pominville, Kotalik, etc, etc. to have better seasons. They are just too much in depth to suck. The only thing they lost is the President's Trophy, and I still consider it a little bit possible.

You really are a closet Hurricanes fan, eh?

i wouldn't say i'm a closet fan. They're my second favorite team and i live in Raleigh so i watch them play whenever i can. However when Detroit's in town, everyone knows what team i'm pulling for. It just makes me angry when people who have no idea about how the canes play and how deep they're prospect system is say over and over again how much they suck simply because they're a southern team.

Meh, I don't think they will be the same team. They lost leadership and scoring and gained nothing.

Oh, I know what they lost. They lost a President's Trophy... I'm pretty sure they will not get it.

However, I can see them easily making the playoffs, and maybe battling Ottawa for top of the Northeast.

But I think their youngsters (Getzlaf, Perry, Penner, Beauchemin) taking it to the next level of development is more than enough to compensate. Neidermayer is a big loss, but Schnieder is no Yves Racine.

I think the 2007/2008 Ducks will be the best team on the ice since the 2001/2002 Wings.

Phoenix. For fun actually.

I look at the roster and practically gag. They have 23M in cap space, and did absolutely nothing in free agency. I don't know what their intentions are, but they are in desperate need of so many things. They have no trade bait, and there are no big free agents left except Forsberg, but he wouldn't go there. Their goalie as of now is Tellqvist. They better go exploring some RFAs, because their roster is sickening. I feel sorry for Wayne Gretzky, I really do.

i totally agree with you. i was checking out their roster the other day because im pretty sure toronto is trying to dump raycroft so they can have Toskala-Clemmensen as their duo. and i knew PHX was under the min. cap so i thought raycroft and kubina(big salary) for someone... but honestly, who would the leafs take. PHX has doan, jovanovski and morris who are noteworthy but they all have big salaries (they need to keep those salaries to try and get over the min. cap point.) so i was looking and past those three players, they are garbage. even the LEAFS wouldnt take the crap on that roster

EDIT: i guess my leaf theory wasnt accurate... but i still think even with Aebischer as their tender (upgrade from Cujo IMO) they will finish in last place.
