stormboy 47 Report post Posted July 18, 2007 i thought he retired after getting his arse handed to him in a fight in like his fifth red wings game. i was probably just fried on the 'shrooms. point is: just when you think a tough team can't get any tougher.......they don't. the guy had what, four points in forty some games with the griffs last year? and every fight i saw him get into as a wing he pretty much got destroyed. *shrug* i guess after spending time in michigan, everyone just wants to go to california. Turretin 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2007 That wont happen in a place that already has a few fighters. Really? Because you think Norton is a realist that isn't full of himself? The guy thinks that he has the skill level to play in the NHL, and was pissed at the Wings for not giving him time.

I thought you were referring to fans bitching that they want him called up, not Norton. Nevermind!
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted July 18, 2007 Look for the number of Wings fights to go from 10 down to maybe 3 next year (even if Norton's were all losses). Good luck Lillypads, you're gonna need it.

sticknmove 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2007 "Oh no, not Norton?? Now the Sharks "toughness" will REALLY overwhelm us. Just like during the playoffs. lol" Are you 12 years old? Seriously not trying to insult you, your middle school wit just oozes out of your posts. Norton is a hell of a role player, and did exactly what he was brought in for its a shame he didnt see more time up. For all you comics mocking Nortons toughness take a second and look up the size, and weight of some of his tilt partners. God, this is getting sick, will converse for days, to the verge of tears on "Babs not playing Hudler" or "Will Kindl be up this year or maybe Erikson huh?" etc. Some of you, NOT ALL (many here are obvious fans of the greatest game in the world and are incredibly knowlegable on both Detroit hockey and the game as a whole) but others come off a seriously sounding ignorant. PLEASE stay awy from the HFforums with some of your arguments you will make Detroit fans look bad

PLEASE stay awy from the HFforums with some of your arguments you will make Detroit fans look bad and will you please stay away from The real red wings forum, you're making us look bad. Norton was a goon, a role player is someone who can check, play Defense (a novel idea considering he's a Defensemen) score, what ever the situations requires. Brad Norton was the absolute Definition of the word "one dimensional". All he could do was fight for this team. When he did that he lost, badly. So he fought better fighters, stick to your weight class then. No one on this forum wants a guy who can'd do a darn thing but fight, take away playing time from a promising young player, just to watch him get his butt handed to him over and over again. Now i'm sure you'll get all bent out of shape and repost to this. Beat your chest in some 3rd grade fashion, all the while chanting "i'm the smartest!". But seriously you lost all credibility when you posted something like that about a player who's not going to make a bit of difference on a team loaded with guys who do his job, a lot better. Also, your perception of Norton is totally off base. He has never been able to make a team, no matter where he plays. He couldn't even play that well on the Grand Rapids Griffins, which is an AHL team. He has no place in the NHL, and San Jose signing him was merely a depth move. Besides that, he didn't win a single fight when he was up with the Wings. He was totally useless.
sticknmove 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2007 First of all some of you have a weird fixation with beating chests, its kinda weird. Second I know he was not a franchise player but he did what he was brought in to do. you guys nut your pants over guys like hudler and kindl (who has yet to play in a NHL reg. game, and only a handful of AHL games) and you sh*t on guys like norton. get over it. heres some info for ya to, research your statements before you make them bud: Sep 22, 2006 1pd 10:04 @ DET TAM Nick Tarnasky -win Norton Oct 07, 2006 1pd 04:26 DET @ PIT Andre Roy -Voted winner: Draw (40.6%) Oct 13, 2006 1pd 14:10 @ DET BUF Andrew Peters -Voted winner: Andrew Peters (62.0%) Oct 16, 2006 1pd 02:07 DET @ LOS Raitis Ivanans -Voted winner: Brad Norton (47.8%) Oct 18, 2006 3pd 03:18 DET @ ANA Shane O'Brien -Voted winner: Draw (67.4%) So in his 5 fights when wih the Wings (1 Preseason and 4 regular season) he was 2-1-2. No not the heavyweight champ but given the names on his fight card this was far from a bad showing.
