I like this part the best:

Oddly enough, last season's starting goalie for Metallurg, Travis Scott, was fined during the Russian Super League playoffs last season after taking a wack at Ak Bars forward Alexander Stepanov and then getting into a fight with Ak Bars goalie Mika Noronen.

McLennen was such a "character" kind of guy but isn't there such thing as having integrity?

What I hear from his supporters is that it wasn't the goalie's idea to chop away, it was the bench's call. But there is a distinct difference between carrying out orders and doing the right thing.

consider then that he went way over the top in his carrying out of the orders, as a protest to being sent to do such a thing, and knowing full well his days in cowtown were nearly overwith.

I doubt very much that Playfair said drop someone , anyone, the 1st chance you get. More likely he was sent in with the orders to take no s*** & send a message..... but i bet they still wanted him to play the remainder of the game, and not cost the team even more greif.

Don't be so biased. You act like it never happens.

So in your opinion, it's bad for other people to be biased against your player, but it's perfectly okay for you to be biased toward him because of second hand information you've gotten. Yeah, okay. That makes a lot of sense.

lol oh man you're too funnny. My player? ummm ok. No bias here, Im as big a wing fan as they get, born and bread. I'm a good friend of the Hotchkiss Family and have had dinner with Harley many times. If you think getting information from one of the owners of the Flames and one of the most respected men in the NHL is not relevant then you need to get your head screwed on straight.

And Im biased towards him for not taking it personal and ripping him apart for one act of foolishness? Wow you keep up that way of thinking

Your message board incompetence is an inspiration to botched lobotomy patients everywhere. Try learning elementary grammar before attempting to inflict your next literary abomination on this message board.

I don't think you are a fool after reading your post, but what's my opinion compared to that of thousands of others? You're just another Internet-addicted idiot suffering from diarrhea of the mouth and constipation of the mind. A long period of non-posting would be most welcome on your part. You bring to mind a quote from Josh Billing: "Doesn't know much, but leads the league in nostril hair."

You light up a room when you leave it. No doubt your life is so dull, that you can actually write your diary one week in advance. I'd get more pleasure from running my nostrils down a cactus, than reading another contribution from you. Maybe you wouldn't come across as such a jellyfish-sucking mental midget if your brain cells weren't on the Endangered Species list; if the chief excitement in your meaningless life wasn't spotting people who are fatter than you are, or if you didn't have a face that would give Freddie Kruger nightmares. Nah, of course you would.

Son of A Wing, do yourself and everyone else a favor, take a fatal overdose of your medication.

:D

So basically, in other words... you claim to know someone who knows someone who 'blah blah blah' and now he can do no wrong in your eyes and your panties are all in a bunch because he's being flamed on an internet message board.

What you're failing to realize is that people are what they do. If someone hits their wife, then they're a wife beater. It doesn't matter if he does it daily or just on rare occasion. If someone uses drugs, then they are a drug user... whether it's only once in a while or if it's a daily habit. You are judged by your actions. Saying McClubber is a solid guy and a man of character doesn't hold up in the light of the evidence that he was out on the ice swinging his paddle trying to injure rival players.

Hopefully, someday you will wake up and be able to take off your rose colored glasses and realize that just because someone signed your scrapbook and had their picture taken with you doesn't mean that they're a good person. Hero worship is not a good thing.

All I'm saying is don't completely judge the guy on that one incident. And for christs sake you bring up Mcsorley and Bertuzzi for comparison? Come on. Seriously.

For arguments sake, it pretty hypocritcial to condemn McSorely or Bertuzzi for their single acts, and not to do the same to McLennan.

The difference being that McLennan was a well liked guy who didn't have a rep as a dirty player when the incident in question happened, while the other two were already well known as dirty players.

very true, but I believe there's a difference between players like McSorely, a one-man-destruction-company and player like Bertuzzi, a skilled and scoring winger who has some occasional rage outburst..

And Bertuzzi is closer to McSorley than he is to McLennan.

I agree, but that wasn't the point I was making.

Simply put, he was brought in during Game 5 for a reason. He did what he was told to do.

Sidenote: McSorely was definitely well known as a dirty player before the Brashaer incident, however Bertuzzi wasn't considered nearly as dirty (before the Moore incident) as McSorely was before his infamous incident.

True, Bert is closer to McSorely than McLennan is to Bert, but I'm not about justifying which players are closer to others. To me, its pretty irrelevant.
