Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 BTW, I think Pavel is going to end up on the second line with Igor because of their history.
Thunderpriest 8 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 Bah! You put Sammy in the top 3 so why wouldn't you put Lillypads in the top 4? Lilly actually played well with Lids during the playoffs. Plus I think he's the minimum risk when paired up with Lids since Lidstrom can carry pretty much anyone with him. Pairing Lilja with a weaker defenseman would only increase the likelyhood of his mistakes being costly. Plus it's nice to have a physical presense out with Lids. Let's not forget that Kroner will likely be out from December-March with some injury. Whoops. Don't know where my head was at regarding Samuelsson. I should've swapped Sammy & Cleary. I think I put him there because Babcock likes the guy and will likely play him in the top 6. And yes, as I said, Lilja played well in the playoffs alongside Lidstrom. I'm just not comfortable with him there full time. He's not a top 2 defenseman. This is precisely why I hope they can still land Markov. I'd feel much better with Markov playing next to Lidstrom. There's your physical presence. So, if we were to re-sign Markov, I'd line up us thusly: Lidstrom, Markov Rafalski, Kronwall Chelios, Lebda Lilja, Quincey

Curban915 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 I want the youth to play its going to have to happen some day why not today. Markov i would like to have back but i think if we let Lilja play and get some real playing time he maybe just as good as markov in a few years. The kids need some time to get better in the NHL giving them 5 min ice time a game will not help.
tipetz22 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 Personally, I like having Zetterberg and Datsyuk play on the same line, but I can see the attraction in separating them to better distribute the scoring. I really liked the way that Filppula played on Pavel's left when Z was out of the lineup. It was like watching "Z-Lite". . . . New nickname for Flips?? Z-Lite . ..Any takers??? Johnny Diamonds 25 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 (edited) By the sounds of this. it appears Dats will center the second line. http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=page&a...rticleid=334646 "He'll have a big adjustment anyway with the language and living issues," Nill continued. "It's all in how he adapts. We think he'll be a really good second-line guy that might suit Datsyuk. He has the potential to be a star, but it's one day at a time to start. For instance, if we want him to go to the minors to catch up with the speed, how does he accept that? It won't do him any good to struggle up here and not play much. A lot of Europeans don't respect the AHL, but four weeks in the minors might be the best way to get up to NHL speed." Hopefully Kindl comes up instead of Quincey. Quincey looks professional and poised, but I'm not too sure he's all that impressive in terms of shear talent. Thunderpriest 8 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 I think that Kindl has more potential than either Quincey or Meech, but he could still use some development in the minors before coming up to the show. Meech & Kindl are a few years older and should be depth defensemen right now. There's only one year left on Quincey's contract, so it would be nice to evaluate him for a full season in the bigs before he signs again. If Markov doesn't sign, then one or both of them will make the roster this year. (Meech is still currently unsigned, correct? I wonder what the holdup is there.)
