DreamsofHope 2 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 Wasn't he supposed to make a decision last week? What do you think the reason is? This isn't the first season he has waited for a very long time to make a decision. Will he come back? Will he not? Why is he taking so long?
Swayze 81 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmoney. I don't know exactly, but i'm sure alot of it has to do with the length/price of his contract.
wingsfan75 2 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 Man it would be great if we're able to retain him. Our D would be very solid if that happens. Without Markov were not in bad shape but his mean streak could be huge come playoff time.

I know this has been talked about time and time again, but last season proved you can never have too deep of a defense. Yeah we may be 'set' on defense, but remember when Schneids and Kronner went down, and we went from being an amazing defense to a good defense. That is always a possibility so I say sign him up! But he is taking for ever! I don't know if that means good things for the wings or not, but I figure if teams really wanted him shouldn't he have signed by now? What could possibly be going on, and from what teams, and why no movement?

What could possibly be going on, and from what teams, and why no movement? It's not a matter of teams not wanting him. He's arguably the most desired UFA D-man left on the market. That being said, he had too high of a number/term in mind on July 1st, and he hasn't dropped his demands enough yet for any team to pull the trigger. However, sooner or later his demands will drop, and when that happens a team will ****** him up in a heartbeat. When Markov starts dropping his demands, I would love for Kenny to be there to pick him up for somewhere near a 2 year/$3 mil per contract. This way his contract will expire right when Z's does, and when Z is signed (hopefully July 1st, 2008) to a longterm deal, you won't have to worry about future financial constraints. Also, that will leave Kenny and Co $2.3 million left to play with for the deadline which is plenty of cash due to being prorated.

StevieY9802 6 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 I'm sure its what his asking price is. He thinks hes worth more than what some teams are offering. It'll change thet later into August we get. His price will come down.
