ridiculous if you ask me ......one 20 goal season and 60 pts and 4 million a year ?? geez if grigorenko has a good year and gets similar stats then we gotta worry about coming up with 3-4 million to pay him ?

too much for 1 good season if you ask me

Roy is a descent player that'll do a good job for any team . but that's a major overpayment by the Sabre's. In an era were there's a salary cap that's supposed to stop team's from throwing crazy money about , it doesn't seem to be stopping the GM's from doing so.

This guy put up good points playing third-fiddle to Drury and Briere. With them gone, he's going to be their top offensive pivot, and the signs are there that he can and will put up solid numbers if he can stay healthy. This deal has the potential to work out as a bargain, but it'd have made a lot more sense for the Sabres to have locked him down for a shorter term to see if he can haul the extra weight. If last season proves to be a statistical anomaly, they're boned.

You guys are seriously underrating Roy. He can put up 25 goals and 65 points easy, all the while making a serious commitment to defense. He is an awesome two-way forward and will only get better with more time.

With Horton, Penner, and Hartnell's contracts as comparable, Roy wouldve gotten more considering hes a more complete player than the other 3.

WAY overpayed. Roy should be making 2.5 at the most. The Sabres should have just waited for arbitration. Cause there's no way Roy would have been awarded that much. But he's a quality player and obviously the Sabres wanted to lock him down for several years.

the sabers are losing it, first they lose very valuable players, and now they are throwing there money away. they are sooooo not going to be the powerhouse they were last year.

Roy is a good player, I expect Buffalo to still be competitive with Roy and Connolly filling the holes left by Drury and Briere.....

and he's locked up for 6 years at 4 million.....good signing

Hartnell - 4.2 per, 39 points

Horton - 4 per, 62 points

Penner - 4.3 per, 45 points

------------------

Roy - 4 per, 63 points

Yeah, theres no way Roy wouldnt have gotten 4 in arbitration

This deal is Ales Hemsky all over again. His contract is a steal now. Same will go for Roy.

CORRECT DIMUNDO!

With Briere and Drury and who was the 3rd guy they lost? Anyway, with them gone fantasy hockey poolers take note:

Jason Pominville and Derek Roy will be good mid-round picks. They'll get tons of PP time now.

Diver is not a 4 million a year player. He's ok, but he's not that good.

I assume with the loss of Drury and Briere that Diver should get a 2nd line spot now, with Tim Connolly (provided that he's healthy) being the 1st line center.

edited for grammar
