Konstantinov case goes to court

A case against the dealership who sold the limo for after market modification that were made by the limo company to make the seatbelts hard to reach? as much as I feel for the situtaion.. sorry, that dealership should not be held accountable. This country has become LAWSUIT driven.

If anything they should go back and sue the limo company for them not having the seatbelts available in a vehicle they were using.

I am not so sure the passengers would have even put them on if they were "readily" available to them...

now if only I could sue my saturn dealership for the faulty wiring Mickey Schur did on my subwoofer in my old car! Well if this goes through, Maybe I can!!!!

This country is going down the drain. All of this needs to stop. Everybody gets sued for everything and that's why insurance premiums are so damn high. I'm talking about ALL INSURANCE premiums including health, workers compensation, professional liability etc... Its already putting people out of business and is unfordable for many people. ******* ambulance chaser lawyers need to all drop dead (******* John Edwards).

It does seem to be a stretch (no pun intended) to sue the dealership who sold the limo. It's common for people in the back of a limo to not wear seatbelts so even if they were easy to reach, who's to say Vlady, Slava and Sergei Mnatsakanov would have been wearing them?

If they want to take that route, sue the aftermarket company that retrofitted the limo, not the dealership. But even that would be frivolous. What are they going to do next? Sue the city of Birmingham for planting that tree in the median?

Ahh good old American "justice" system...sometimes when I'm feeling down about my financial situation I half-jokingly think about sticking my leg into the path of an oncoming bus...with the right lawyer and creative sob story I could probably sue the busdriver, bus company, whoever manufactured the bus's brakes, the city in which it occurred, and everyone within 35 yards of the bus stop and live comfortably off the ensuing settlement for the next 50 years.

Thats what I was saying above... you are partying, celebrating... in a limo... seatbelts are not in your mind like they are coming home from school sitting in the back of the big yellow bus.

I heard rumors they were actually going to sue the tree itself when this case falls flat on its face

I hate lawsuits, and stories like this because they paint a poor picture of the American legal system, which is already suffering from a poor image.

Plenty of times, when you hear about some frivolous lawsuit that gets filed, it will end up getting tossed out by the judge. That part isn't what makes the news though. Or, when a jury gives someone a 12 trillion dollar settlement, either the judge or the appeals court reduces the dollar amount. Again, that never makes the news either.

Based on what's in the article, it doesn't sound like the lawyers have much of a case.

Wow! That would be quite a feat since that tree was removed not long after the accident 10 years ago...

That is what they wanted you to believe. The tree has actually been residing in a state funded penetenuary just in case the other law suits were to be "barking up the wrong tree"

I feel bad for the tree though, I mean 10 years of being incarcetrated for nothing more than being planted in the wrong place at the wrong time :(

but as they say:

Don't laugh. I lived in Tucson for awhile and while I was there a kid ran across the street in the middle of the block trying to catch the bus and got hit by a car. The driver of the car that hit the kid was not ticketed because the kid was at fault. The ******* lawyers sued the city transit and won, because according to the judge they had the money to pay..

Ahhhh...so the tree has been in the witness protection program under an assumed name...like Oak instead of Maple?

Which is why I never went to law school... :P

The question comes to mind - did any of them complain to the limo company before they drove off. I mean if they were concerned enough to wear their seatbelts while partying, why did they drive off without being able to put them on. The answer ... they weren't going to wear them anyway.

I wonder if people injured on a bus sue the dealerships for lack of providing accessable seatbelts. If not, PERHAPS THEY SHOULD START!!!!
