I hope not. Kitna may not be the greatest QB in the world, but Leftwich is no better. Whether you like him or not, Kitna is the Lions guy this year. Giving up anything of value for an overpriced backup isnt a good move. I cant think of another place that makes more sense for Leftwich to end up than in Atlanta.

Aaron Downey tally = 4 Wins (Mclaren, PARROS, *Laperriere*, Wisniewski) - 1 L (**Boll**) - 5 Draws (Walker, Fedoruk, Davison, Shelley, O'Donnell)

(* = beatdown)    (** = at the end of a shift)

Preseason prediction - Anaheim over Philadelphia in 6 (ok, well i'll settle for one right...)

Leftwich sucks.... So maybe the Lions will go after him.

Gotta believe he's Falcons-bound if the Jags do in fact cut him. I can't imagine they're real excited about going into the season with Harrington under center. Leftwich isn't that good though....I thought Garrard should be starting all along. This is weird though, because I could swear they named Leftwich the starter for the first game a couple weeks ago....hmm.

If Leftwich doesn't mind backing up, he'd be a hell of a lot better than O'Sullivan. Pity that Orlovsky got hurt and couldn't play those exhibition games.

Harrington played very well when Culpepper was out, and is a better QB than Leftwich. It's difficult for any QB to succeed when he is expected to not only win every game, but to do it without an O-line or a defense.

This is a must signing for the Lions. Kitna is a crappy QB and the Lions are going to need to replace him sometime this season.

Please give your definition of "very well"! Joey had a couple pretty good games, but take away that game against Detroit and his overall numbers are awful. And hell, even including that game theyre no good! His rating was actually lower than it was in 06. Theres a reason they didnt want him anymore.

He played very well for a guy who likely saw very few practice snaps for the first four weeks, and had a mediocre receiving corps. Harrington ended his season with a couple bad performances that dragged his numbers, but for a good section of the season (week 10-week 14) he was quite good, including stellar performances against the Lions and Patriots.

But the fact remains that overall, when its all said and done, he was average AT BEST for Miami. For every good game there was an atrocious one to match.

Arguing between who's better Leftwich or Harrington is like arguing whos the, i dont know, 35th best goalie in hockey. If i had to choose though, i'd take Leftwich.

Leftwich has already failed using the same system of offense the Lions play. but if he wants the kiss of death of being the Lion's QB... better get his career tombstone finalized.
I make 1 or 2 posts a week tops. Sometimes they're gold, sometimes they're crap, but the end weight is the same.

Well, given that Joey and Leftwich were both top 30 in QB rating....

I would be shocked if the Lions brought in a backup that hasn't had at least a series of offseason OTAs and trainging camp to learn Martz's system.

Bringing Leftwich here and having himself see the field in the event of a Kitna injury is just setting him up for failure.

The Lions have Drew Stanton from Michigan State on IR for this season.

correct. That's why I would sign Leftwich for only 1 year.

Man it sure looks like we need this guy after Kitna went down today.

Also I take 15% back of my original comment on Kitna after today's game. The guy had heart like Joey Harrington when he played with the flu.

I cant even believe anyone would argue that. Leftwhich is absolutely the better QB. Anyone who says Joey is better, obviously knows **** about football. Bottom line. Laughable comparison right there.
