EPSN - Top Goals, Hits, Saves

Has anyone seen these videos?

Few comments on the goals:

- I thought Crosby's best goal last year was the one he scored against the Rangers, it's not there.

- Goal Malkin scored against Jersey (maybe best goal of the year), not there.

- I don't remember many spectacular goals from Ovechkin last year, but surely he scored nicer goals than the 2 that

are in the video (turnaround wrister from the blueline that flukes its way in?).

- Didn't Zetterberg have a real nice goal last year (actually I think it was a pass to Datsyuk for the goal) - or was that the year before?

I noticed some glaring omissions from the hit list as well.

Yes, you're referring to the game in Dallas. The Wings were down 1-0 with less than 10 minutes in the third. Z went coast to coast and made it look like he was going to pull a wrap around, but at the last second did a between the legs backward pass (that went between the defenders legs as well), and Dats fired it into the wide open net. Before Smith knew what happened the game was tied 1-1.

Sidenote: Z scored the next goal, by getting three players to go down on a fake shot, then held the puck a split second before firing a shot short-side top shelf to put the Wings in front 2-1. He would end up by adding an assist on the final empty net goal (Schneider) that put the Wings up 3-1.

That was a wonderful goal; also, recall that the goalhorn was mistakenly blown despite the game being in Dallas. I remember the Dallas announcers saying, "Zetterberg waits, shoots, he scores! Oh, you're kidding me!"

Did you see the save by Zigomanis at the very end of the saves reel? While it was great, it leaves me with one question. How the hell can they show that, which was from an insignificant regular season game, and they chose NOT to show Lidstrom's circus act against Grier in the playoffs? I'll go ahead and answer my own question, its because they're ESPN and they couldn't care less about hockey so they probably had some intern put these togeather as punishment for screwing up the coffee orders that morning.

Leave this stuff to TSN! Only way this could have been worse is if they had clips of Melrose predicting the Ducks as champs hidden in the middle of the reels.

ESPN's knowledge of hockey is so frustratingly bad. Those hits couldn't get any weaker, and their selection of "top goals" is lame as hell.

It also begs the question: what purpose does Melrose even serve at ESPN anyways? Comic relief? They only have hockey coverage about once every 6 years, and since he doesn't cover any other sports, he's basically there to breathe air.

this is why i'm scared to death of ESPN getting the NHL again. While i agree it will be the best thing for the sport as whatever ESPN hypes, sells. I'm scared of the NHL becoming "The Sidney Crosby Penguins are the best team ever!1!!!"

Uggg... that was a retarded list.

Apparently all you have to do is score while not on your feet to get on that list. Make a great play while standing up? Sorry, this list is only for unrepeatable goals.

I mean come on- 3/4 of those fall-down and score goals were complete flukes. Ovetchkin's spin around backhand wasn't fluky as much as it was impressive- it's a goal you just don't see often at all. And what the hell was with the fluky goal that went off that guy's head? How the hell is that a top goal of the season? Funny to watch but I really doubt the shooter aimed at his teammate's face as a point of deflection.

The Z-to-Dats behind the back pass goal was far, far, far more deserving of that list than 65% of the crap on there.

Ugggg... what an f-ing dips*** list of goals.
