Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted November 11, 2007 http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=222586&hubname=nhl NEW YORK - Freddy Meyer is back with the New York Islanders. Islanders GM Garth Snow reacquired the 26-year-old defenceman Saturday, picking Meyer up on re-entry waivers from the Phoenix Coyotes. "The injuries we've recently had on our blue line prove you can never have enough depth," Snow said in a release. "We've always liked Freddy. He's an intense competitor and he's a very solid defenceman in all areas who is still just 26 years old. "We only lost him earlier in the season because of a numbers game." Phoenix acquired Meyer on waivers earlier in the season when the Islanders tried to send the defenceman down to Bridgeport. Islanders defencemen Bryan Berard and Aaron Johnson are currently sidelined with injuries. Berard could return from a groin injury this week, but Johnson could miss up two months with a knee injury. Meyer played five games with the Coyotes and eight with their AHL affiliate in San Antonio. Not very interesting news, but somehow I felt the need to point this out. Discuss. Or not. The Chance to play in the nhl or spend the winter months in a warm place. It's tough when you have inj. I'm really starting to not like this waiver policy. It's bad enough that a guy has to go up and down all the time to the minors, now he has to worry about making it to the minors without going someplace else. Does this mean NY has to put him on the NHL team or can they send him up and down, and then what happens when they get healthy. Not a way to live for Meyers. Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted November 11, 2007 I've always wondered if he preferred an Urban setting. The bad thing though is that they wont be able to return him if he doesnt fit, since they mustve found Meyer on the clearance rack while shopping the waiver wire. NY is always looking to add more Aisles like Meyer though. How much is his celery anyway? Anyone know?

But that doesn't mean he won't get a chance to gift wrap a few rings for his opponents.
