skatergod247 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2007 (edited) I went to the game on Saturday Nov 17, and even thou the Wings lost, it would have to be, my second all time favorite time at “The Joeâ€Â, number one being Round 2 Game 2 veures the Sharks, this year in case anyone cares. Anyway back to Saturdays game. We had great tickets the best Ive ever had Section 128 Row 3 which put us almost behind the net. Two rows back was the knitting lady, more about her later. In the row behind us there were two die hard Blackhawk fans, this was the first trip to Detroit. They told us that the people of Detroit were, very nice to them when they were at the bars downtown, before the game. We were talking and razzing each other before, the game. They did there usual ‘Detroit Sucks†which was countered with, “So Does Chicagoâ€Â. Anyway this jarring went back and forth, just having fun, the blackhawks would score and they would give us a tap on the head and low five from us when we scored., which we didn’t mind, nor did they we knew it was all in good, fun and were the type of people that were there to have fun win or lose. Back to the knitting lady. Were standing up talking to the Blackhawk fans during intermission, and they keep looking over to there left (that is where she was sitting). Finally about half way through the second the one guy taps me and goes “Is that who I think it is, is that the knitting lady†(She is so famous they heard about her) So I told him yes, so he looks back at over her smiles and waves, and Im not kidding she looks up long enough, smiles back at him tells him to “ah Go to Hellâ€Â, then flips him the bird. That got the whole section laughing. But in all fairness she is a VERY sweet lady, she took a picture with them and smiled in it and when we were leaving told them to drive safe. So that was my experience at “The Joe†got to meet the knitting lady, and 2 of the nicest Blackhawks fans I will ever meet. If I had the opportunity, to sit with them at another, game I would, they like all fans in Detroit are what true hockey fans are made of. irishtemper14+25 11 Report post Posted November 18, 2007 sounds like a fun time, but it always is fun when you watch it with true fans no matter who they are rooting fans
skatergod247 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2007 (edited) They thought getting flipped off was the best parts of the evening. Other then being at "the joe" Edited November 20, 2007 by skatergod247
RabidWingFan_N_BuffaloNY 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2007 What a great experience and story!!! Being from Buffalo I can say with honesty a good number of Buffalo fans are completely rude and thoughtless; have even seen them direct negative comments towards families with kids. And Buffalo wonders why it doesn't win championships. Before you can win one you need to act like you already are a winner and that includes fans as well. Just this summer the news paper here was calling buffalo the new Hockeytown. Well let me tell you Wing fans, I have and had your back. I told everyone that before even thinking that win at least one 'Cup then another 9 and then maybe.....NOT. So now as the sabres are in the cellar in their division I remind everyone that you don't proclaim a title when the King is still alive. Hockeytown is alive and well and will go all the way this season. RedWings 2007-08 Stanley Cup Champions. Remember where you read it.

They did there usual ‘Detroit Sucks†which was countered with, “So Does Chicagoâ€Â. Had i been there i wouldve hung my head in shame, possibly even left my seat, if i heard that comeback. WEAK! This Is Bida 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2007 yea there were definitely a larger number of Chicago fans at the game last night, larger than you would normally see an opposing fan at the Joe. One of my buddies actually plays for the Blackhawks. James Wisniewski... none the less, me and 2 buddies went down to the game last night, of course rooting for Detroit!!! But there were a large number of our buddies who Wiz got tickets for that were rooting for Chicago. Soo... having a hometown kid play for the 'Hawks is gonna bring a small group of people to that game tho for sure!

EuroTwinLove40 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2007 Hehe... What would comeback be? I'm curious to know. What happened to "count our cups"?? I thougth that was a sufficient comeback, much better than "so does chicago" lol.

Although if they hung around here, you might get them with "We got Chili, you got Cheeseburgers." In the words of Bugs Bunny, "If you can't beat'em, confuse'em." PS I still love Robert Lang. BlackhawksFan 4 Report post Posted November 19, 2007 This was my first foray into a non-United Center NHL arena. I like the Joe Louis' design. There aren't three different stories. Just one. Efficient. The concourses are nice, too. But that six-handed Howe statue is really, really creepy. The seats are way too small. And I was afraid I was going to trip on the stairs, but I think that was because I was in a corner section. To the fans: You guys are too quiet. You cheer when the scoreboard tells you to, and that's about it. I haven't been to a Hawks game since the home opener, but I remember it being louder in there. Hell, the Detroit fans that go to Chicago are louder than the fans that I saw on Saturday. And the anthem....I notice in various places on this board that the anthem is considered a time to reflect and respect the country. The tradition of cheering during the anthem in Chicago is frowned down upon. I do not understand this. I don't see how cheering on this country during its anthem is worse than reflecting on this country. I can stand quietly and listen to the anthem, or I can clap in celebration of it. We in Chicago just do it differently. But overall, I had a good time. I don't think I've ever seen a greater percentage of jerseys or logo insignia at a sports event, ever. HOCKEY MATTERS 167 Report post Posted November 19, 2007 To the fans: You guys are too quiet. You cheer when the scoreboard tells you to, and that's about it. I haven't been to a Hawks game since the home opener, but I remember it being louder in there. Hell, the Detroit fans that go to Chicago are louder than the fans that I saw on Saturday. I agree. I have been going to the Joe for a long time...it seems like every year the noise is waaaay too subdued. Me, I embarass people that go with me. I am very vocal. And loud. Glad you had a good time in our barn. Also glad you weren't abused in a negative way. Positive abuse rocks!
