Karma Finds Jackman

I don't expect you to agree that Jackman deserved the Calder because you are, alas, a Red Wing fan, but your other portion of your rant is pretty ignorant don't you think? I never said he was a MacInnis or Pronger, but if Jackman sucks as much as you say, why do fans of other teams always clamor for him when trade possibilities are discussed on HF Boards? Why was he only the 8th defenseman in NHL history to win the Calder? The answer is simple. He doesn't suck and you know it. You can hate him cause he plays for the Blues and he has a style that might drive fans of other teams up a wall, but unlike homos like Matt Cooke, Tootoo, etc, you would take Jackman on your team anyday. Further proving how good he is, how many people wrote him off after all the rule changes? He was the prototypical "clutch and grab" defenseman and would never survive a skating game was the argument. Yea, didn't think so. After suffering through a bad 2005-05 season, he adjusted his game and his skating and puck moving ability have improved exponentially. Again, I'm sure you don't care about any of this, but I'm just proving to you that no matter your personal feelings toward him, Jackman is a great defenseman. If the Blues make the huge mistake and don't sign him he will get 4 million/year minimum on the FA market.

Your opinion doesn't equal proof. Fact is he's a -13 with 1 measly goal and 3 assists for the year so far. Couple that with the fact that he goes after non-fighters and you begin to see his ******-worthiness. Which is why Lucic kicked his ass.

Merry Christmas!

Ha. OK, clearly you guys don't want to have a legitimate conversation. Cya tomorrow night losers.

Clearly you're not here to make friends. Which is fine. But we have plenty of non-Red Wings fans around here that we have fun and intellectual conversations with. Don't be a troll. But feel free to participate in productive conversations. For example, yeah I'm annoyed Jackman got the Calder over Zetterberg...you would be too if you were on this side. But in all honesty, it doesn't mean s***. Stevie Y was runner-up his rookie year too. Z is in good company. And if you were to ask me right now (or anyone else with an ounce of hockey knowledge) if they'd rather have Jackman or Z, chances are they are going to say Z. Can you blame them?

Here's food for fodder:

from HERE

from Lyle Richardson at the Hockey News,

So if you want a good forecast of which players are most likely to be dealt over the next two months, check out the list of potential unrestricted free agents.

It includes Marian Hossa, Brian Campbell, Mike Commodore, Cory Stillman, Pavol Demitra, Daymond Langkow, Kristian Huselius, Ron Hainsey, Joe Sakic, Mike Ribeiro, Nicklas Lidstrom, Brian Rolston, J-P Dumont, Brendan Shanahan, Jason Smith, Mats Sundin, Markus Naslund and Olaf Kolzig.

Don't expect to see most if any of those players changing addresses by the trade deadline....

As long as those teams are in the playoff picture, none of the aforementioned will be dealt.

Instead, expect lesser lights or fading stars like Bobby Holik, Dmitri Kalinin, John-Michael Liles, Dick Tarnstrom, Keith Carney, Michael Ryder, Paul Mara, Brad Stuart, Marek Malik, Barret Jackman, Mike Johnson or Matt Cooke to become possible trade candidates.

Merry Christmas.

If we're losers, than what does that make the Blues with their pathetic history?

Exactly. Having once lived in St. Louis, I can say from first-hand experience that if there are any fans that have zero business trying to talk smack, it's Blues fans. The franchise has never accomplished a damn thing in its 40 year history, yet their fans never stop whining about how their team gets no "respect." Their frustration is understandable (it's a simple fact that the Blues have been the Wings' ***** for a solid decade), but their trash talk is difficult to take seriously.

I never once talked trash about anyone of the Wings. All I did was make a case for how underrated Jackman is as a hockey player and as a standup guy, and the responses were something along the lines of "I don't care...Jackman's face resembles a Croat's ****** and he's a s***bag *****." Is that accurate?

And of course everyone with half a brain would take Zetterberg over Jackman. I obviously don't root for them, but I love watching Zetterberg and Datsyuk when they come to town because they are magicians on the ice.

As for the Blues history, sure, we can't really talk trash based on our history of Cups, but we are the most colorful team of the expansion era, filled with countless (and future) Hall of Fame players, coaches, and broadcasters. 25 consecutive playoff berths ain't too shabby. And let's not forget the Blues still have a better record than the Wings in the regular season. No Cup is the one blemish, but b/c of all the pain Blues fans have been through, when (ok..IF) we win the Holy Grail, it will be that much sweeter. I kind of like it like that anyway in a sick way.

So i take back the "loser" comment. Peace out Wings fans. Go Jackman! ;)

Cool. I have lots of friends in St. Louis who are Blues fans, and I will readily admit that I felt for them as they watched all that talent pass through town with the team never quite putting it all together. I do think the team's fortunes will change, however. The new ownership (and especially JD) know what they're doing. Murray is also a very good coach. I'd say Blues fans have plenty to look forward to.

Because Zetterberg was far and away the best rookie forward at both ends of the ice, and all the talk out of St.Louis was about how Jackman was so great, but Zetterberg was playing with all-stars which inflated his appearance. When in reality it was Jackman whose appearance was inflated. But voters wanted to give it to good Canadian boy, and since giving it to Rick Nash would have been obviously based solely on his birthplace, they picked the best rookie defenseman.

For having 4 inches and about 25 pounds on Jackman, Lucic should have done more than land one clean punch.

This fight destroys any argument that Jackman picks on non-fighters ad/or softies.

Yay! He finally stepped up to a real fight and look what happened. He got his ass handed to him. (BTW, Lucic landed at least two more after that one big one as he was going down). Jackman will go back to pushing around the Hudlers and the Datsyuks of the league now.

So what do you call Todd Bertuzzi in his prime? Or Owen Nolan (the Sharks version)? Two guys off the top of my head whom Jackman readily combated with in his rookie season. Yes, very comparable to Datsyuk and Hudler.

How's that? He fights Lucic and doesn't get destroyed(although Lucic still beat his ass), so that somehow means he doesn't pick on non-fighters???

Yeah sure he didn't get completely wasted. But that doesn't take away from the SEVERAL times he acts like a tough guy to players like Datsyuk. Or even Larionov a few years back. Hell, I remember Jackman trying to get Nagy to drop em. Yeah guys like Datsyuk, Larionov and Nagy are all real tough fighters.

Yeah he will drop em with fighters. But alot of times he acts like a huge ****** and tries taking on guys that never fight, and/or guys he knows he can waste. Jackman has zero class. The dude is a bum. And he's done NOTHING since winning the Calder. Maybe next he can try to take on the monster that is Martin St. Louis. That seams about right for Jackman.

 Ooooh not Bertuzzi and Nolan!?? Dude, Bert and Nolan in their prime is nothing to brag about. Bert has never been a great fighter, ever. And Nolan was a decent middleweight at best during his prime. Nolan fought when he had to. But was never a punishing force when it came to dropping the gloves. Nolan was decent at best. Not to mention, you're talking about Jackman's rookie season. How bout any time after that? All I know is, Filpula better be ready, cause Jackman is coming to drop the gloves tonight! What a f*cking joke.

Hmm I think you have that wrong, Bert hammered Jackman and Jackman went down like a sack of bricks.. Jackman broke his wrist.

You kidding me dude? Hudler is FEARLESS. Where's NorrisNick when you need him! :P

That's sarcasm of course... just so were all sure. Jackman will fight, and there pretty tough guys he gets beat up by, I have no problem with roughing up other teams little guys, but going after them after whistles and trying to get them to fight? That's just embarrasing on his part.
