Chelios on McCarty: Maybe GR, Then The Wings

Honestly, it sounds like Chelios is speaking almost hopefully...definitely not with any organ-I-zational info, but he did say on WDFN tonite that if Mac loses the weight and has the passion to play, Grand Rapids may be a destination, with a possible return to the Wings.

Would love to see it. Most everyone likes a comeback story. I think he would have to be very driven to do it though. He still has gas left in the tank I.M.O.

As long as D-Mac can get his game back, I would love to see him in our system. Whether it be GR or the Wings. I know im being sentimental. But I don't care. Darren did so much for Red Wings hockey. And gave us hundreds of awesome memories. IMO that alone should earn him back into the organization in some way. I have my fingers crossed on this one. I hope Darren proves everyone wrong.

It would be great for him to retire a Red Wing, and that's the way it should be. I just hope he can find his form again, or something close to it.

would be great to see him retire a Stanley Cup champion...but hey i'm optimistc

He was just giving HIS two cents. Going by your logic, we're all trying to be hockey experts just because we give our thoughts and opinions. Cause that's all Cheli was doing. So ease up there buddy.

There is no way Darren can get in shape, and get his game back to the level needed to play in the NHL. His is a great story, with a sad ending. As much as I'd love to see him properly retire from the NHL, I think it's safe to say he is done.

Regardless, I'll always remember Darren as the guy who undressed Niinimaa and Hextal to put the biscuit in the basket, and amaze us all.

Huh, and yet Kocer came back from a beer leauge that wasn't even professional hockey. He's still in Flint, people love him here, we just want to give him a chance. You haven't seen a "MAKE IT HAPPEN KENNY" yet have you? I mean shesh it's not like sorry Dats, Mac was here before you, I'm afraid we're going to sit you when he gets back.

Not in this thread, but I've seen plenty of the "GET IT DONE KENNY!" posts. When KocUr made his comeback, the game was different. Darren can't play the same style today as he once did. The rules won't allow it.

Sorry for being real.
