edicius 3,269 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 Ovechkin was the only one that made that event worth watching. Clement is a friggin' tool for the Ducks. And then the scoring for Kovalchuk completely invalidated any legitimacy for the event. If you're gonna give high scores to a hometown favorite, even if he didn't DO anything...well, it's all out the window. Bettman? Your idea fails.
Lidstromrules16 7 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 I think overall, the superskills were f***ed up, and kinda boring.....Ovy made it almost watchable. Even the Youngstars game was slow, and seemed lazy

That is, provided he even knew there was an all-star game this week.

HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 When they said Celeb judges I was thinking ya know...movie stars, singers, etc.. I seriously think Pavel didn't understand that it was based on the best moves. He look confused about it. Getzlaf was awesome as was AO. The skills comp was okay. It seems every year it's been going kinda downhill. It use to be much more exciting. Oh well. I'm excited for tomorrow though, hopefully Oz will dominate. BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 I had fun watching this actually. Every event was fairly enjoyable. I wish Ovechkin scored on one of those attempts though, especially the second. The second attempt by Getzlaf was one of my favourites. Disappointed in Datsyuk, but I don't think he cares, .
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 They should do the breakaway without the goalie. Make it like the slam dunk contest where the players can be creative without having to deal with a defender.

GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 What was up with the fastest skater contest? I always wanted to see if anyone could actually break Gartner's record, and now this debacle. Gaborik who's regarded by most as the fastest skater in the league wasn't even in the damn contest.
Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 (edited) DiPietro and Legace on the mic was the only thing that kept me awake during that whole thing. No one did anything on that last event expect for maybe 2 people. maybe just me but oh well. 2 morrow should be a good watch though. edicius 3,269 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 When they said Celeb judges I was thinking ya know...movie stars, singers, etc. Yeah, I didn't even catch/know who the other two judges were (I knew Clement and Mellanby, obviously). Lame. Doubt I'll even bother with the game tomorrow, considering how dull this was.

Gaborik who's regarded by most as the fastest skater in the league wasn't even in the damn contest. Hey, as long as Gary thinks his way works...his way is the way it's gonna be I mean seriously, why put the fastest skaters in the speed competition? Hey, let's put undeserving players in the all-star game just so every team can have recognition. Never mind the players that should be there. And why the hell is neidermeyer in the game??? Ok, I understand Rafalski didn't want to go cuz he wanted to spend time with his family...but neidermeyer didn't even play for the first half of the season. He certainly doesn't deserve to be there. It should be another defensemen...the worst defenseman from the western conference that played all the games is more deserving to be in the all-star game than neidermeyer. This "All-Star" game is a joke. f*** Bettman.

And Niedermayer had the audacity to mention how he thought the ASG was a "nice break" for him, not realizing how much more of an ass it makes him look and sound like. All-Star weekend is a bust. Wake me up when there's some real hockey again.
