Yzermaniac192005 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 Regardless, he needs to sign a contract before the trade deadline if we want to call him up. I fully expect the Red Wings to give him a two way contract very soon. It's a no brainer for both sides, I think the Wings just have to pay him a little bit more? Either way, great to hear he got a hattrick, best news I've heard all night!

Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 cuz scoring a hat trick in the minors really means your ready for the nhl Yeh, because the Griffins are such an offensive powerhouse, scoring goals at will... NOT. They've struggled to put pucks in the net all season long. McCarty's 4th game and he scores a hat-trick, which makes 5 points already. It's a very good effort. Guest LivingtheDream Report post Posted February 16, 2008 Remember when he scored his first and only ever NHL hat trick against Roy and the Avs, 2002 WCF, Game 1? Yzerman said the funniest ever thing I ever heard from him or perhaps any hockey player. He said that Darren McCarty getting a hat trick was one of the four signs of the apocalypse. Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) Bring his ass up Kenny! What could it hurt? We drop a game because of it? Oh, no! The world would end if we were to lose a game... Seriously though, scratch Sammy, then: Z-Dats-Homer Stein-Flip-Huds Kopper-Draper-Maltby Mac-Drake-Downey Then, trade Lebda and Sammy and a prospect/pick to the Jackets for Foote and Fedorov. Then, inquire the Lightning about getting Gratton and Prospal w/ Lilja and Hudler and picks. Inquire about Sundin just to raise the price for the Ducks or Sens when they finally sign him. Z-Dats-Homer Flip-Fedorov-Prospal Cleary-Draper-Stein Drake-Kopper-Maltby (Mac/Downey/Ellis) Lids-Raffy Foote-Kronner Cheli-Gratton Done and done. Don't argue, it's flawless. Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 I know Mac should start off on line 4, but he must be with Malts & Drapes. Grind Line!! That would definitley happen in certain situations, like when we are down a goal or 2. I was thinking 4th line as strictly an energy line and 3rd as a depth scoring line. I was thinking 4th line as strictly an energy line and 3rd as a depth scoring line. Yes, I agree,. It's just that whenever I think of Mac, I think of Malts & Drapes as well. You gotta think it would spark those two as well to have him back. t(If indeed it happens) *crosses fingers* But of course starting him on the 4th line makes perfect sense, and then he could possibly move up to the third depending on how well he plays. Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 We all knew he would be signed on the trade deadline day to be an offical member of the team so he could play in the playoffs if needed. This changes nothing but perhaps the willingness to move another foward in a trade. Kopecky it was nice knowing you.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 That would definitley happen in certain situations, like when we are down a goal or 2. I was thinking 4th line as strictly an energy line and 3rd as a depth scoring line. Actually I really see him Drake and Downy being our, so you think you can ruff us up line?? So when we play the ducks and game three at their building when they are playing dirty, we can go out and drop the gloves. I still bet money that he is the first healthy scratch on most nights, but he will be signed after we make our trade. 110% promiced. If we sign him right now we might have to put meech on waivers.... at some point, depending on the IR situation. Hartigan, Kopecky, maybe sammy, hudler, or Matt may be moved as a part of a deal. I bet one of those openings will go to the DMac attack.
skacore 2 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 Kopecky it was nice knowing you. we're not bringing in a (36?) year old vet banger to replace a (26?) year old kid.. the organization has put up with Kopecky's mediocre play for 3 years in Grand Rapids before he did anything.. now when he starts to feel comfortable at the NHL level we're gonna dump him? I don't think so
SwedeLundin77 460 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 I don't think that he meant that we would be trading Kopecky to make room for McCarty. I think he meant that in order to bring McCarty up and also make a trade for a top six winger, we could possible move Kopecky for that reason. It makes sense if you're trading Kopy in a package for a top sixer and than bringing Mac up. Personally, if Mac is healthy and can bring the same type of energy we're used to seeing of him, then why not sign him to a two-way and bring him up in a couple weeks?? It really is a no-brainer (no, i'm not sentimental - I just know how much McCarty could bring to this team so long as he's healthy). The guy is 110% heart and that is something we could always use not to mention the fact that he is a GREAT leader on and off the ice. While if this does happen, the fact that I would like to see him reunited with Draper and Maltby, I do think he'd play with Downey at least...him and Downey on a line would be sick... Throw Maltby in there and you have the best agitation line... That would come in very handy against Anaheim in the playoffs.
Sevumar 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 I never saw McCarty in his original run with Detroit, but I'd sure as hell love to see him back for the rest of the season/playoffs. The man has overcome more than a lot of us ever will in our lives, and for that alone, he deserves a second chance.
Nev 1,085 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 Well, whilst wishing him well, I was certainly in the "I doubt he'll even get to the AHL" camp. Darren, you're starting to make me into a believer! Keep it up D-Mac, you go earn yourself that 2-way deal
Salviaman 104 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) PLEASE GOD WE NEED SOMEONE!!!!!!!! Hope he comes in and fights someone right out of the start of the game just to send a message to everyone else in the NHL that the Wings aren't going to take s*** anymore, then put the old grind line back together baby!!!!! Maybe it will energize Maltby and Draper again to play with their old line mate eh? I bet money that this will bring more excitement to Detroit ever since the Tigers made the World Series Edited February 16, 2008 by Salviaman
