Class of the League

Here is the latest story in which the Red Wings organization is named "league's class act." I could probably find at least a dozen more, and they wouldn't be from Detroit or Michigan papers either, that say the same thing.

Surprisingly enough those kudos are from a Colorado newspaper. What's not surprising, from that paper, is the backhanded complement that follows it - "At least in the regular season."

That implies that the Wings aren't the "league's class act" in the post-season. Yet there is not one NHL that has one more Cups from the mid-'90s to present. New Jersey and Detroit have both one three since 1995. However the Wings won their three Cups in a shorter time frame. In my opinion one could argue Detroit is the class of the league in the post-season too.

It doesn't surprise me that writers in Colorado write what they write. When your the best, thats what happens people will pick you apart and find anything negative to post about you, because thats all they have.

interesting time to create this thread...trying to lift our spirits?

Didn't think of that, just found that article today and thought it interesting enough to post.

I usually like Terry Frei, even though he writes for a Denver paper. On a side not to that, the Blood Rivalry book is written by a Colorado guy, and it's pretty even-handed in my opinion.

Might have won your 3 in a shorter time frame, but we won of those cups over you ;).

But I do agree along with us in the Eastern Conference, your Red Wings are the class of the Western Conference.

I've never been a fan of this guy but he really outdoes himself with this article entitle:

'At what point do transplant fans deserve to get grief?'.

Read the article and some of the comments left by readers...amazing. When we move we should leave behind the jerseys and any support forour former team. We should be kinder, gentler people and not offend the natives in our new home as they may be sensitive and cannot handle this sort of aggrevation.

Well guys, after following the Wings for 28 years Terry has made it crystal clear. I should be devoting all of my time and attention to the Predators. I should accept the fact that I had no control over moving here 15 years ago, and the real reason my dad took that job at Saturn was because he heard Nashville was going to get a NHL team several years later and he wanted to get a head start on rooting for them.

Its been nice talking with all you knowledgeable fans of a team I hold very close to my heart but I have seen the light, thank you Terry for helping me find the error of my ways.

yeah you "trapped" your way over Detroit. All kidding aside, in the past 15 years, the wings have won more regular season games, more playoff games, appeared in more conference finals, won more playoff series and tied with Devils for the Cup championships. Not bad. Heard that on FSN Detroit, per Ken Daniels.
