wingsfan75 2 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I thought the very same thing! I missed the first period but when somebody told me that was exactly what I said. Man, I'm so glad it was nothing too serious. It still looks more like he got his bell rung than a knee injury after seeing the replay a few times.
Izzy24 44 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 I have never liked Downey that much , still miss mccarthy Sandy McCarthy?
RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 was he giddy when Downey beat Laperriere's ass ? Good question - I didn't bring a radio to the game, just listened to the Colorado post game show on my drive home and they replayed the hit as announced on Avs radio several times. It would make people sick in here to hear that loser bubbling over with joy that one of his goons injured someone. Seen as how they can't buy a SOG that's probably the most he ever gets to get excited about. They of course never replayed the fight - but if I guessed it would something like "There goes Lappy and he really kicked the Red Wings' Downy's a$$" pretending the reverse didn't happen. Seriously they have some of the worst homer announcers ever...

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 I can't believe no one has blamed Gary Bettman yet for Nick's injury.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 We are not out of the woods until the MRI comes back negative. Trust me, I had nearly the exact same thing happen and it ruined my knee.
Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 I can't believe no one has blamed Gary Bettman yet for Nick's injury. it is one of those things that is just obvious. Does not need to be said.
Guest LivingtheDream Report post Posted February 20, 2008 The way his knee bent, his foot stationary while his knee twisted, suggests either ACL or MCL sprain. Now you can have varying degrees of sprains, a 3rd degree being a full tear. Either way, he had a rotational and valgus mechanism which is pretty textbook for ACL/MCL. That's not saying the concussion arguments don't have any basis. But I definitely don't think the media is "creating a knee injury conspiracy" to throw everyone off. There was definitely a knee injury in there. I've seen my fair share on the job. The Doctor is in the house! Thanks for some real information here!
LeftWinger 5,152 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 ...so I read somewhere (forgot where) that he'll be out a week to 10 days. That means he'll miss 2 or 3 games. That is great! It shouldn't effect his getting another Norris because his stats won't take that big of a hit in only three games... K00l!!!

K00l!!! espn In other Red Wing news, all-world defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom will miss a week to 10 days with a slight MCL sprain. He was injured early in Monday's win over Colorado. There ya go. How about 2 weeks to hedge bets?
