kylee 727 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Perhaps it is a "Euro"-tradition. Don't really see why that would make it a bad thing. Ok if you think it's silly or childish, but calling it bad just because it's Euro just makes you sound kind of <insert condescending word of your own choice>. Don't really think you're that but then again, I might be wrong. Don Cherry? (lawlll kidding!)

Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted February 20, 2008 If they wanted to do something for the fans... it'd be legal to throw seafood on the ice : :octo: :octo: :octo:
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 I like the stick salute. Great way for them to thank the fans. But... Detroit should do something original, like you said. My idea is that they pick a Wings player each home game, and that player sings the national anthem. Agreed. It'd be really cool if the Wings and their fans were known for something truly unique and original. Maybe if we went to the seafood store and bought an octopus......... Point: We have our traditions. Maybe the stick salute is a neat thing, whatever, but "other teams are doing it" is a bad reason.
imisssergei 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 Wow people.....its not as if the Wings are changing their team name, logo and colors to match the Rags. They're just saluting the crowd and thanking them for showing support. If the crowd is there and does their part I see nothing wrong with the players recognizing it and throwing a shout out to them. Edit: (Kelsey) Grammar You Sir, are a funny man. Back on topic... I think it is a bad idea for the Wings to do this. Simply because it's not something they started doing, and if they did start to do it, they would just be 'copycats'. IMO, if they want to do something like a salute to the fans, that's cool. But find something original.

Barrie 900 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 Nah I don't need to see the stick salute after a game. It's a nice thing to do by the players, but after seeing it done in other cities, I never once thought the Wings should.
