Holland: "There WILL be moves."

I am sick of people who refuse to acknowledge the fact that we are inept in getting it done in the playoffs. Just because you are happy with a 45 + win regular season and nothing else doesn't mean everyone else is.

Opie, that right there is a microcosm of your perspective's shortcomings; you're relying on huge generalizations and assumptions, as well as a general lack of good old-fashioned rationality. That people point out this team's weaknesses and call for them to be addressed is not proof that they're fair-weather fans who are "too young to blah blah blah" and should "find another team because blah blah blah" and want to "have their cake and eat it too blah blah blah."

This team has issues and they need to be addressed. Simple as that. Some people, myself included, simply aren't impressed with regular season success and the fact that the Wings won back-to-back cups a decade ago and bought the Cup in '02.

I say to both of you, what move that was available at last years deadline that could have been done to help the wings overcome the loss of Kronwall and Schneider. Holland would have to be able to tell the future to predict last year. The team had one of the top 2 d's in the league last year, and then in the playoffs lost 2 of its top 3 d-men.

Do tell me if I am so stuck in the past, what would you (I assume do to your vast knowledge you are in line for a gm job somewhere) have done last year.

I have no problem with people saying there are needs that need addressing, as I have said that, when people say "Off with Hollands head" that is not logical and it shows a complete lack of understanding.

Some teams won't deal with det, see Carolina, No one in the west is going to help make det any better than it already is. Very few eastern teams that are in the playoffs are going to deal anyone. So those of you that were calling for a Ryder trade, sorry that is not happening unless Dats is going the other way as they only appear willing to give up Ryder for Hossa in return.

Sticknmove I already told you that your credibility in this discussions is gone seeing as in one of your posts on this subject you have the wings not winning the cup since the 90's.

You do realize this is the salary cap era right?

Holland has Cleary and Zetterberg to worry about signing in the near future. Maybe Hossa wants 9 mil a year, you, me, and anyone else on here has a clue what goes on in the war room. However instead of trusting in an org. that has always played the UFA and trading in a way that has not hurt them, instead of freaking out and saying why hasn't he traded x for Hossa.

Like it is that easy, like all Holland has to do is walk up to Waddell and say "Hey, Sammy and Meech for Hossa!" and Waddell will go "Sure why not, it isn't like I am going to get better offers."

You overreact and your posts show as much.

Proof:

Lets say Hossa signs here, your post would look something like:

OMG, this is the bestest thing ever, we pwned the league.

Then Hossa busts and ankle and is out for the playoffs and then your post would look something like this:

OMG Holland sucks he shouldn't have traded away the franchise for an rental player who got hurt.

Do you know how I know this, not because I can see the future but rather I can see the past, I can go back and make inferences from your posts.

I could start in the Ozzie/Hasek threads, but I have made this post long enough already!

I'd hardly call that the voice of reason. Or refreshing, for that matter.

"Blah blah blah GUYS WE TOTALLY CAN'T WIN EVERY YEAR IT'S OK IF WE DON'T WIN FOR ANOTHER TWENTY YEARS BECAUSE WE WON IN '97, '98 AND '02 AND TORONTO HASN'T WON IN DECADES blah blah blah ALL YOU GUYS DO IS COMPLAIN WELL LET ME TELL YOU ONLY ONE TEAM CAN WIN THE CUP blah blah blah...."

Side note: whiskey or vodka?

******* in real life or just play one on the internet? You add nothing.

Team is going nowhere. Amazing that the huge slump won't even get Holland to grow some balls. No defensive depth and no scoring outside of Cleary and Zetterberg and Datsyuk. What a s***ty GM.

I appreciate Dombrowski even more now.

I said it yesterday. Mr. Illitch owns both the Red Wings and the Tigers. I would like one of the GM's to be the GM's of both teams. At least one has the balls to make a huge move that puts his team over the edge.

At least the Tigers GM would've made us a couple of move. The Tigers want to win, the Wings want to "rebuild the team after Yzerman".

I'm sorry when was the last Tiger's WS win?

And wasn't the tigers who won an astounding 119 games in 2003, oh no they lost 119.

But you are right to compare the two teams, one has been the model for success in the past 15 years and one hasn't won a title since '84.

Yeah going to the World Series really sucks....

Opie, c'mon. The Tigers will probably make the World Series again, or come close. Lets say they do, World Series 2 times out of 3 years. The Wings havent been to the finals since 02. I'm sorry if I believe we have the best team in the league and should be trying to win rather then rebuild.

At least they make it to the dance or get damn close. He can take a team that won 119 games and take them to the World Series by making some aggresive moves that enables them to win and win big, but I guess that doesn't prove anything. Holland can learn from Dombrowski.

Before I get into this why not try comparing a sport that has a real cap, instead of the fake one that the Sox and Yanks laugh at every year!!

Pretty bold prediction considering the Red Sox have the same team with better parts (Ellsbury > Crisp), the Yankees are a pitcher or two away from being great again, The Indians are still very good, and Dontrell Willis and an overweight third baseman who will have to become a 1st baseman in 2 years aren't Huge additions. They are damn good I will give you that. Cabrera can Rake make no bones about it, but he is no Brandon Inge Defensively, but hey it is just third base a throw away position.

Inge is a Dan Cleary heart and Soul kind of guy, ask the White Sox what it was like when they gave up Aaron Rowand. You can not replace those intangibles. And Cabrera is loving his money, and is overweight, third base is not where you want you version of John Kruk!

The Tigers will be in a fight to win their division let alone the AL. Hell if they were in the NL I would punch their WS ticket for you now, alas they are not and have to deal with Bos, Cle, NYY, ana los a... the friggin' Angels, and Seattle got better (they won't win s*** though).

Who in the hell said they are rebuilding, last year was supposed to be the rebuilding year and they were great. This year they are continuing to build the youth, in a cap era you need youth. It really isn't that hard of a concept, you try to win now, without losing the future.

So the tiger's probably making the WS is close enough for you, but the wings being the best team in the NHL isn't.

You confuse me, if the wings made it to the SCF last year and lost would you be saying the same thing?

But you know, why don't you and Leftwinger, dabrua, go an form you own "I was a wing's fan but my fair weather fandom in me made me turn away even though they are still the #1 team in the NHL, because I wanted another player" discussion board.
