HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 Detroit could've kept playing on the play and Setoguchi still could've scored. Your point is moot. Exactly.

Barrie 900 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 (edited) I can stand losing. I will support the team through anything. What I cannot stand is being constantly f***ed by the establishment. No team can beat that, no matter how hard they try. And the establishment won't fix the problems. The game is broken. It's tough to stick with it. Yea I'm starting to feel the same way about the game. I just don't enjoy as much as I did before the lockout. Each year I've been losing interest in it more and more, which is probably one of the reasons why the losing streak isn't effecting me this year as ones in other years. It just seems the NHL does things that turns the fans off. The game now is just blahhh. Edit: Due to the Salary cap, teams have no character anymore, they're all the same. And you have those wussy hooking penalty calls all the time. Edited March 1, 2008 by Barrie

Monday thru Friday or write to them at National Hockey League 1251 Avenue Of The Americas New York, NY 10020 Just left Bettman a message...and no I didn't threaten his life or swear at him. I wanted to but I actually care about the game and I wanted him to actually listen to the message. I clearly expressed my anger with the lack of call and the lack of the ability to review the play. edicius 3,269 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 (edited) I'm a die-hard hockey fan. I'm a die-hard Wings fan. I'm not a fairweather fan and I'll usually call things as I see them as objectively as I can. While I haven't been watching much Wings hockey lately, due much in part to injured personnel on the Wings leading to lackluster play (I was excited to see Kronwall back and Stuart on the ice tonight), it's garbage like this officiating (Anaheim game included) that have resulted in me not wanting to watch hockey PERIOD. And I'm a die-hard hockey fan. Imagine the casual fans. They're not waiting around - THEY'RE GONE after crap like this. I'm not a conspiracy theorist who thinks that the officials are out to get the Wings...but for f@#%'s sake, there doesn't seem to be ANY sense of impartiality when it comes to the Wings these days. You damn well KNOW that if that goal had been scored by the Wings, it would have been called back. But if it was the Ducks, Flames, etc. there's no question that it would have stood, just as it did for the Sharks. There's only so many screw-ups I can tolerate from the refs that ALWAYS benefit the opposition of the Wings. I can think of only two or three occasions this entire season where it went the other way and the opposition got screwed. So, why us all the time? Like Matt said...it's a f@#%ing joke. Before tonight, I hadn't watched a game in at least a week and a half. It might be another week and a half before I can bring myself to watch another. A big hearty "f@#% you" to Stephen Walkom and Gary Bettman. Thanks for ruining my game. Edited March 1, 2008 by edicius
commadore183 103 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 All goals should be reviewable, regardless of what the ref calls on the play. Period. I agree And to prevent abuse of the rule, have it be a penalty of about 4 minutes for delay of game if the goal isn't called back. Some want the teams to be able to play the puck off of the mesh. As I stated in the GDT, if the net wasn't there, it would have been out of play before the netting, and as such, it should be whislted out of play. As Murphy just said about it, the puck could get caught in the netting and slow on its way down. A D-man could be watching the puck, waiting for it to clear, and get bowled over and possibly hurt. Terrible f***ery on that call. Terrible.

jim3033 1 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 (edited) I've been watching the Wings since 1995. Before the CBA there were bad calls but they happened a lot less frequently and never at as big of crucial moments as now. After the CBA there have been way too many frequent bad calls. If it happened at just one occurence I wouldn't be as pissed but this is really starting to get to me. Mickey Mouse League. I totally agree! You can sense what Bettman and others want to see happen to the game and its hard to put into words but it really makes the game lame. Yeah I know that we have won 3 Cups in that time, but when the league put a stop to the Devils using the trap, that seemed to ruin the sport and it has only gone down hill. New Jersey was doing nothing wrong, they used the rules to there advantage, and the fact that their games were boring, the fact was they were winning! I don't understand why the NHL wants to keep changing things!! This game is the best in the world and yet they keep ******* it up!! Maybe tonight is exactly what the Wings need!! Sergeiwasmyfav 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 I never said it wasn't a bad call, Matt. All I said was the Wings should have kept playing. I think that is a legitimate point. How can you say it is moot? Do you think the Wings should not have kept playing despite the fact that no whistle was blown? All I said was simply, the Wings should have kept playing. That takes nothing away from how terrible the call was and the fact that it makes the league look ridiculous. It was just simply another point about the situation. I believe Mickey Redmond, who was obviously very, very angry, also said something to the effect of "Well, I guess this shows you why you play until you hear the whistle." In fact, I know he said that. Yes, San Jose still may have scored. You are exactly right. But I don't think my point that the Wings should have kept playing was ridiculous at all. Well after the puck hits the netting, they expect the zebras to be doing thier job. Theres 4 of them out there and I cannot belive that not one of them saw it. The sharks also quit playing, the puck just happened to land in front of the shark that scored, and after not hearing a whistle, just had to tap it in. Im not saying the refs job is easy. But give me a break. Thats as easy as they get. And to add insult to injury it ends up to be the game winner. Unbelivable.
